FORT WORTH—The Aggie
Fish could not cope with a tre
mendous second half explosion by
the TCU Wogs and went down
to defeat, 35-12, here last
Wednesday night.
At the end of the first half,
the Fish held on to a slim 6-0
lead on a gift touchdown. The
touchdown came when the Fish
recovered a fumbled punt on the
Wogs’ one-yard line and went
over the next play. The conver
sion failed.
The second half was all TCU
as the Wogs piled up 35 points
to put the game out of reach.
After A&M’s Larry Stegent
ran back the opening kickoff to
the 37, Ross Brupbacher hit right
tackle for two yards. Then, Ste
gent was stopped for no gain
trying to sweep right end. Bar
ney Harris’ first pass was too
high for end Jimmy Adams and
the Fish were forced to punt.
BATTALION CLASSIFIED —
TCU’s Sammy Rabb, who was
the game’s leading rusher with
104 yards in 25 carries, went to
the TCU 31 with a four-yard
gain. Rabb then rammed right
tackle for two plays to give the
Wogs a first down. Rabb and
Bub Deerinwater ran for another
TCU first down on the Wogs’ 46.
The Fish finally stopped the
Wogs and the first quarter end
ed in a scoreless tie.
At the start of the second
quarter, Harris completed a pass
to Bruce Kemph for four yards.
The Fish were then forced to
punt and Harris’ punt was fum
bled by Tommy Cox on the one-
yard line and recovered by Tom

Chaffe. On the next play, Kemph
hit right guard to give the Fish
the lead.
The rest of the second quarter
saw the Wogs pile up yardage
but they could not push over a
score.
TCU finally got on the score-
board with 8:02 left in the third
period on a Dan Carter to Jeff
Kearney pass that covered nine
yards. Merritt’s kick was good
to give the Wogs a 7-6 lead.
After a Fish punt, the Wogs
put the ball in play on their own
35. Rabb and Deerinwater took
turns running the ball to the Fish
41, where Carter hit Marty Whe
lan for a touchdown strike. Mer
ritt again converted and the Fish
were eight points behind, 14-6.
As the fourth quarter started,
Deerinwater and Rabb, along
with Carter’s passes, carried the
Wogs to the Fish 10. Rabb then
hit over left guard for another
TCU score. After the point after,
the score stood at 21-6.
After the second play of the
ensuing kickoff, the Fish fumbled
on their own 24 and TCU recov
ered. Five plays later Deerin
water carried from the one for
another Wog score.
Following the kickoff, Harris
hit Adams for tosses of 11 and
33 yards. Harris then hit Stegent
for a 33-yard scoring pitch for
the Fish second touchdown. The
two-point conversion failed.
The Wogs’ final touchdown
came on a 60-yard, 12-play march
climaxed by Cox’s three-yard
burst with 1:02 left in the game.

DON KOEHN
. . . Aggies’ offensive guard.
Guard Don Koehn:
Ags’ Unsung Hero
One of the unsung heroes of
Texas A&M’s offensive line this
year is Don Koehn, a burly senior
from Brenham.
Koehn is the starting weak
guard which in itself is a mis
nomer because Koehn is certainly
not weak. He plays a consistent
hard, tough brand of football and
has developed into one of the top
blockers on the Aggie front wall.
Quarterback Edd Hargett has
had exceptional pass protection
the past couple of weeks as he
unloaded 34 completions in 54 at
tempts. Koehn has been a lead
ing figure in that protective wall
thrown around the sophomore
passer.
Saturday night Koehn will be
making his third trip into Tiger
Stadium on LSU’s campus in
Baton Rouge, La. The last two
trips have been losing efforts for
A&M, but they were close and
LSU still hasn’t moved in for a
touchdown on its own. In 1964
the Tigers used a blocked punt
and field goal to fashion a 9-6
win. Last year they again used a
blocked punt and field goal fon
10-0 win.
Koehn is one of the men wk
will be determined that LSI
won’t break through to block ai;
punts Saturday night.
The win over Texas Ted
Koehn feels, should help tk
Aggies as they head for Ik
