FIRE FACILITIES
Henry D. Smith, (front) chief of Texas A&M’s Firemen
Training School, inspects a new tank and dike facility at
the practice field. The 8,500-gallon tank will be used for
demonstrations at the annual fire school beginning July
17. Instructor Tom Robinson has charge of fuel supplies.
Following seven years elemen
tary school, pupils pass to “real-
school” by examination. During
two years of U. S. equivalent
high school, Norwegian teenag
ers take standard courses in re
ligion, languages, history, geog
raphy, chemistry, physics and
math, Hesstvedt said.
Another major exam — stand
ardized throughout the country
—permits students to enter a
three-year “gymnasium” at the
age of 15. Tests are administered
at the end of each year and no
other exams are given.

THE CHURCH FOR ALL
ALL FOR THE CHURCH
The Church is the greatest factor
on earth for the building of char
acter and good citizenship. It is a
storehouse of spiritual values. "With
out a strong Church, neither de
mocracy nor civilization can sur
vive. There are four sound reasons
why every person should attend
services regularly and support the
Church. They are: (1) For his
own sake. (2) For his children's
sake. (3) For the sake of his com
munity and nation. (4) For the
sake of the Church itself, which
needs his moral and material sup
port. Plan to go to church regu
larly and read your Bible daily.
That’s what my parents said when I asked if I could go to Eddie’s Sun
day School.
You see, there are lots of churches in town. And my parents haven’t de
cided which one we ought to attend. These are important decisions. They take
time!
But that doesn’t make Sunday mornings much fun. With all my friends
at church, there’s nobody to play with except that bully up the street. And
Dad and Mother say I shouldn’t play with him.
That’s funny! How come parents can decide what kind of boys we should play
with, but they can’t decide what church we should attend?
Seems to me that going to church next Sunday might help us all decide.
