Seniors John Beasley, Dick Stringfellow, Eddie Dominguez and Tim Timmerman and their Aggie teammates will have the pressure on them since Southern Methodist whipped Texas Chris tian Monday night in overtime, 100-96. The win gave SMU a one-half game edge over the Aggies in Southwest Conference standings. A&M “must” win to go into the final game of the year in a tie with the Ponies. SMU now has a 10-3 conference mark, while A&M is at 9-3. A loss by the Aggies to Bay lor tonight in G. Five seniors, three juniors and a lone sophomore dot the starting lineup, making experience the key in A&M’s title hopes. SMU Wins In Overtime FORT WORTH (A>)_Streaking Southern Methodist swept to a 100-96 overtime victory against Texas Christian Monday night and seized at least a temporary lead in the Southwest Conference basketball race. The Methodists, forced repeat edly to overcome a commanding TCU lead, slipped into a 93-91 edge in the overtime period and never relinquished the advantage. The harrowing victory—ninth straight for the Mustangs— pushed them one-half game ahead of Texas A&M ast he champion ship race rolled into its final week.
