Regalia For The January 1966
Commencement Exercise
All students who are candidates for the
degree of Doctor of Philosophy are required
to order hoods as well as the Doctor’s caps
and gowns. The hoods are to be left at
the Registrar’s Office no later than 1:00
p. m., Tuesday, January 18 (this will be
accomplished by a representative of the
University Exchange Store). The Ph.D.
hoods will not be worn in the procession
since all such candidates will be hooded on
the stage as part of the ceremony.
Candidates for the Master’s Degree will
wear the cap and gown ; all civilian stu
dents who are candidates for the Bachelor’s
Degree will wear the cap and gown;
ROTC students who are candidates for the
Bachelor’s Degree will wear the appropriate
uniform. All military personnel who are
candidates for the degrees, graduate or
undergraduate, will wear the uniform only.
Rental of caps and gowns may be arranged
with the Exchange Store. Orders may be
placed between 8:00 a. m., Monday, January
3 and 5:00 p. m., Friday, January 14. The
rental is as follows: Doctor’s cap and
gown $5.25, Master’s cap and gown $4.75,
Bachelor’s cap and gown $4.26. Hood
rental is the same as that for the cap and
gown. A 2% sales tax is required in addi
tion to these rentals. Payment is required
at the time of placing order.

Praises Rudder
President Earl Rudder has
been honored by the 4,000-mem
ber American Institute of Plan
ners for establishing a program
of planning education at Texas
A&M.
A certificate for outstanding
achievement was presented to
Rudder by Robert L. Williams,
AIP executive director, in behalf
of the Gulf Southwest Chapter.
Gov. John Connally received a
similar award Tuesday from
Williams. Governor Connally and
Rudder are the first Texans to
be so honored.

Study at the Lawrence Radiation
Laboratory.
Dr. John L. Gammel, profes
sor of physics at A&M, was as
sociated with Watson at a Los
Alamos scientific laboratory.
Watson acquired his Ph.D. at
the University of Iowa in 1948,
taught at the Universities of In
diana and Wisconsin and took his
present professorial post at the
University of California in Ber
keley.
He is on the Presidential Ad
visory Committee for Weapons
and serves on several Pentagon
committees.

Association of Texas.

met at Baylor University last
