tachment was awarded the com
mendation medal by Col. Ray
mond C. Lee.
Brock’s wife, Bernice, and his
daughters, Terry and Karen,
were present in the office of the
professor of aerospace studies
and deputy commandant for the
ceremonies.
The supply specialist will be
promoted to master sergeant Dec.

The commendation cited Brock

ust. It was the first time in 13
and one half years of service he
and a twin brother were not as
signed together.
The commendation medal is
the fourth recognition of Brock’s
supply performance. He was
commended for job performance
in a quick engine overhaul pro
ject at Tachikawa AFB, Japan,
and was named “Supply Man of
the Month” of a division while
at Plattsburgh AFB, New York.
Brock, Sunday School superin
tendent of the First Baptist
Church in College Station, was
presented SAC’s achievement
award for self-improving through
education.
Brock, 33, and his family lives
at 1106 Timm Street in College

whole civil rights front will be
boiling in 1966.
President Johnson gave a
taste of it Tuesday night when
he said he will ask Congress in
January for legislation “to pre
vent injustice to Negroes at the
hands of all-white juries.”
No doubt he will ask for other
legislation in the civil rights
field. Thus those who may have
thought that things might quiet
down after the congressional
battles over the Civil Rights
Acts of 1964 and 1965 were
wrong.
In addition, in the spring
there will be a civil rights con
ference at the White House on
how to make equal rights a na
tional reality.
Today civil rights leaders,
representing groups from con
servative to radical, began a
two-day session to prepare for
the spring meeting.
Over the past weekend the U.
S. Civil Rights Commission asked
for new federal laws and full
enforcement of old ones to stop
racial violence and injustice in
the South.
The commission urged Johnson
to send more federal officers to
racial trouble spots and to auth
orize them to make on-the-spot
arrests. The Justice Department
has been very restrained in the
use of federal police power.
Further, the commission wants
