Skrabanek pro fessor of agricultural economics and sociology, told the Apollo Club Thursday night birth con trol is not the answer to popula tion explosion. “We’re barking up a blind al ley when we talk about birth control,” he said. The increase in population is a result of “the increase in life expectancy.” He pointed out that a baby bom today has a better chance of reaching 60 than a baby born in 1900 did of reaching five years. “Today there are about three billion people in the world,” he remarked. “To get the increased production we’re going to have to turn to increased technology.” He said it is practically impos sible to predict population growth because “we’re dealing with peo ple and these are the unpredict- ables.” It took thousands of years to reach the first half-billion mark, he noted, but “since 1940 it takes only about 10 years to add a half-billion to the world’s popu lation.” Houston Woman Injured In Car-Truck Collision A young Houston woman was listed in poor condition at St. Joseph’s Hospital late Thursday after a car-truck collision on rain slicked Highway 6 at the East entrance of Texas A&M. Slippery roads were also blamed for three other area ac cidents. College Station Police Chief Lee Norwood said an Opal sta- tionwagon driven by Cheri Brown collided with the right side of a brick-laden truck. Her car was dragged 60 feet by the truck and Miss Brown was thrown 106 feet. In another mishap Ruby Wil liams of 609 W. 15th in Bryan was injured when the car in which she was riding crashed into the bridge on San Jacinto Avenue. She was a passenger in the car driven by Emmet Clemmons of 912 Orleans. After smashing into the bridge the car skidded 80 yards, jumped across a church yard, struck a gas meter and careened into a utility pole. Clemmons was not injured but The Church..For a Fuller life..For You.. CALENDAR OF CHURCH SERVICES ST. THOMAS EPISCOPAL 906 Jersey Street, So. Side of Campus Rector: William R. Oxley Asst.—Rev. Half she marked T M for ’Tis Mince, the others T M for ’Tisn’t Mince. It’s such fun having Grandma live in our house. Her stories of the old days, her under standing humor, and her joy in living spark our lives. She needs no label. That she’s a Christian glows in everything she does. No matter what the circumstances, she meets people and situa tions with love and goodness. Full credit is hers, that none of the problems that we feared when she came to live with us have developed. Yes, I’d say Grandma has rubbed off on all of us. We all go to church now and we’re much happier because of it.- We’ve learned from Grand ma that happiness comes from doing good and loving God. Why don’t you go to Church and take your family with you? Copyright 1965 Keister Advertising Service, Inc., Strasburg, Vo. THE CHURCH FOR AL_I_ ALU FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of charac ter and good citizenship. It is a store house of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regu larly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children’s sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regu larly and read your Bible daily.
