The Aggies enter the game fresh from their victory over Houston and the Frogs will be trying to bounce back a narrow defeat by Texas Tech. A&M has a 2-2 record while the Toads are 1-3. The poor Froggie record is misleading, however, since their losses were to strong Arkansas, Nebraska and Tech and their lone victory over a tough Flori da State. As proof of their strength, TCU has several players high in the SWC stats. Steve Landon, one of the halfbacks, is the num ber three conference rusher, net ting 249 yards in 42 carries for a 5.9 yard per carry average. The number six rusher in the SWC is also from TCU, and his last name will have a familiar ring to Aggie ears. He’s Ken ny Post, the 195-pound fullback that has a 3.6 yard average and 219-yard total accumulated. P. B. Shabay, the Frog quar terback, is right behind Harry Ledbetter in conference passing with 254 yards on 26 passes. Ledbetter is third in the SWC with 447 yards on 37 passes. Phil Scoggin, the SWC’s num ber two punter with a 40.8 aver age, will be facing the number three punt returner in Frank Horak. He’s run back seven punts for 107 yards. The Frogs aren’t without heft, their interior line on offense averaging 213 pounds and their starting backfield coming to 198 pounds per man. Shabay, the sophomore quarterback, leads the backfield at 206 pounds. The Aggies enter the contest two-point underdogs, but the team attitude far from reflects the pre-game guesswork. The Cadets continue in good health and fine fighting trim and the entire starting unit from last week will be on hand to open against TCU. The Harry Ledbetter-Ken Mc Lean combination continues to click, and John Poss, the “other” end, says he’s intent on snar ing his share of tosses Satur day night. Starting on offense for A&M will be McLean and Poss at the ends, Robert Barnett and Jack Pyburn at tackles, Don Koehn and Gary Kovar at guards and Jim Singleton over the ball at center. In the backfield will be Ledbetter, Bill Sallee, Jim Stab ler and Dan Schneider. Ted Nelson continues to im prove at end, and his speed is being further utilized on defense by attempting extra point and field goal blocking. The defensive line, linebackers and backfield have shown excel lent pursuit, as shown by the high number of assists as well as tackles recorded in the Hous ton game . On the line will be Jerry Kach- tik, John Nilson, Tom Murrah, Ken Lamkin and Grady Allen. Ken Caffey is the rover, Joe Wellborn and Robert Cortez will start at linebackers, Jim Cauff- man and Dan Westerfield are at halfbacks and Jerry Nichols is the safety. Glynn Lindsey will again be on hand to add the extra points and field goals that proved to be the margin of victory last week. AP Football Picks (AP) — Texas 18, Arkansas 14- Darell Royal and his Longhorn brood have a year’s pent-up emotion going in this one. They’ll stop Bobby Burnett and avenge the 1964 loss.
