Air Force Postpones
Titan 3C Launch
CAPE KENNEDY, Fla. — The
Air Force on Wednesday post
poned the second test launching
of the powerful Titan 3C mili
tary space rocket until Thursday,
Oct. 14. The firing has been
scheduled for Friday.
Officials said the delay was
caused by a “contamination prob
lem in a transtage pressurization
system valve being assembled at
the Martin Co. plant in Denver.”
Meanwhile, astronauts Walter
M. Schirra Jr. and Thomas P.
Stafford planned to run through
a full dress rehearsal Thursday
for their rendezous and docking
Gemini 6 flight scheduled for
Oct. 25.
Kidnaper Traced
To Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS — Peace
officers traced an exconvict who
kidnaped five people in two states
to Wichita Falls Wednesday
night.
They said a motorist identi
fied the fugitive, Delbert Gar
mon Jr. 26, as the hitchhiker he
picked up en route here.
All available policemen, sher
iff’s deputies and state patrol
men were summoned to join in
a citywide manhunt. Police ad
vised residents to lock their doors
and admit no strangers.
Smith To Attend
Fire Service
Trustee Meeting
Henry D. Smith, chief of fire
men’s training for Texas A&M’s
Engineering Extension Service,
will attend a board of trustees
meeting of the International Fire
Service Administration Institute
Oct. 16-22 in Miami, Fla.
Smith also will participate in
the annual conference of the In
ternational Association of Fire
Chiefs while in Miami. He will
review the program of the Flori
da State Fire School at Ocala
Oct. 23.
The chief will discuss fire safe
ty training with sub-committees
during the annual meeting of
Liquified Petroleum Gas Dealers
Association Oct. 13-15 in Dallas.

ciation meetings in Del Rio, San
Diego and McAllen next week

meet with the city council of La

Taylor Selected Head Of Rodeo Club
The A&M Rodeo Club announc
ed the new officers for the school
year and an increase in dues at
their first meeting.
Jack Taylor was elected presi
dent. Others elected were Bobby
Robinson, vice president; Tony
Jernigan, secretary; Wesley Rob
inson, treasurer; and Richard
Guyman, reporter.
A new development was the
new National Intercollegiate Ro
deo Association increase in dues
to $25. The additional $15 is for
rodeo insurance, which is manda
tory for NIRA competition.
The Rodeo Club will have its
next meeting on Nov. 1, when the
A&M team for the Texarkana
Rodeo will be chosen.
Foreign Students
Enrollment Shows
Big Fall Gain
Foreign student enrollment at
Texas A&M soared to an all-time
high of 542 during the 1965 fall
semester, R. L. Melcher, foreign
student advisor, announced.
The enrollment reflects an in
crease of 109 students or 25 per
cent over 433 last fall, the pre
vious high enrollment.
India has the largest represen
tation with 80 students. Mexico
has 55, Pakistan 53, China 52,
Tunisia 32, and United Arab Re
public 21. Sixteen nations list 10
or more students.
Students from 51 foreign coun-
triesare registered this fall.
Melcher’s report shows 294 of
the students working toward
graduate degrees.
