Kuvlesky Co-Authors
Magazine Article
Dr. William P. Kuvlesky, as
sistant professor in the Depart
ment of Agricultural Economics
and Sociology, is co-author of
the lead article appearing in the
current issue of the Journal of
Rural Sociology.
The article titled “The Meaning
of Rurality in American Society,”
by the A&M sociologist, is co
authored with Professors Robert
C. Bealer and F. K. Willits of
Pennsylvania State University.
Through the separation of ecolog
ical, occupational and socio-cultur-
al dimensions, the authors offer
a clarification of the concept
of rurality.
Kuvlesky joined the A&M
staff in the fall of 1964 and was
granted his Ph.D. degree in soci
ology from Pennsylvania State
University this summer.

at Texas A&M.
They are Frank C. Litterst,

a cooperative program between
the Texas Education Agency and
A&M. Bob Jaska, associate pro
fessor in A&M’s Department of
Agricultural Education, coordin
ates the program for the univer

“This cooperative system is de
signed to make the services of
specialists available to conduct
short courses under the supervi

“Such a program enables teach
ers of vocational agriculture to
provide improved educational
services to farm people.”
He said Litterst and Page will
each conduct three short courses
per month, or about 30 a year,
for adult and Young Farmer
groups.
Specialists are now available in
the fields of beef production,

Feed Mills in Fort Worth four
years. Next came managership
of the Baldwin Feed and Cattle

in Travis and Shelby Counties
until 1964.
Litterst has successfully oper

sheep, Angora goats, pecans and
grain farming. He is a former di

Southwestern Cattle Raisers As

College, received in 1952 and
1954, and has taught vocational
agriculture for 13 years. He
taught farm electrification to
high school students, young and
adult farmers, and participated
in farm electrification short
