Page 4 College Station, Texas Thursday, June 24, 1965 THE BATTALION CAMPUS BRIEFS Enrollment In Special Russian Course Doubles Enrollment of doctoral stu dents has doubled in one year for a Texas A&M Russian language course. A&M is said to be one of four universities in the nation offer ing the special course in scientific Russian. Enrollment totals 51 graduate students in two sections. The course was first taught last sum mer to one section with 25 stu dents. Professor John M. Skrivanek teaches the course formally en titled “Introduction to Scientific Russian.” He is a native Texan who completed doctoral studies in Slavic languages at Charles University in Prague before the Communist takeover in Czechos lovakia. ★ ★ ★ A Texas A&M doctoral student, Fred W. Wagner of Brownsville, has been chosen for a postdoctor al research associateship with the School of Aerospace Medicine, San Antonio. istry and nutrition under the di rection of Dr. J. M. Prescott of the A&M faculty. He expects to complete require ments for the doctorate in Janu ary. Then he will go to the School of Aerospace Medicine located at Brooks Air Force Base. Wagner is completing his re search for the Ph.D. in biochem- ★ ★ ★ January graduate Larry Lee Crutsinger of Brownwood ranked as top officer in a 177-member infantry officer’s basic course class, Texas A&M officials have been notified. Doran Now Assistant Dm Dr. Edwin Doran, Jr., an asso ciate professor of geography at Texas A&M since 1960, has been named assistant dean of the new College of Geosciences at A&M. Announcement of Doran’s ap pointment was made by President Earl Rudder. Dr. Doran also will retain his position as associate professor of geography. He holds a Ph.D. in geography from the University of California at Berkeley, a mas ter in geology and geography from Louisiana State University, and a bachelor of arts degree in geology from LSU. EDWIN DORAN A native of Baton Rouge, Dr. Doran attended school there. He served in the Corps of Engineers during World War II.
