Rev. Elder Takes
Baptist Post Here
The Rev. Lloyd Elder, 31, form
er pastor of the First Baptist
Chaurch at Princeton, has accept
ed the pastorate of the First
Baptist Church of College Station.
Elder replaces the Rev. Guy
Greenfield, who resigned in Aug
ust to accept a position with Jud-
son College in Marion, Ala.
Dr. Kyle Yates of Baylor Uni
versity has been serving as in-
terum pastor since September.
Elder has had 12 years ex
perience as a pastor, serving at
Baptist churches in Holland, Ida,
Cisco and Brownwood, in addition
to a term as summer mission
pastor in Big Delta, Alaska.
A 1961 graduate of the South
western Baptist Theological Semi
nary in Fort Worth with a bache
lor of divinity degree, he has
completed course work towj
a doctor of theology degrw

and is currently working on
dissertation.

Graduate Wives
Plan New Council
The Association of Graduate
Student Wives met Tuesday night
with representatives from each
graduate department to form the
Graduate Wives Council. The new
council will plan and sponsor
social activities in conjunction
with the Graduate Student Coun
cil, according to Jean Ringer,
president of the wives association.
Membership in the council is
open to all interested graduate
students wives and female grad
uate students, Mrs. Ringer said.
It will meet at about six-week
intervals.

A poetry-lecture reading featur
ing Dr. Robert Lewis Weeks, a
professor of English at Stephen
F. Austin State College, was re
ported for Wednesday at 8 p.m.
in the Assembly Room of the
Memorial Student Center. The ar
ticle should have read 8 p.m. Thurs
day in the Social Room.
Sponsored by the Contemporary
Arts Committee of the MSC, the
presentation is open to the public,
announces Jack Slimp, chairman
of the committee.
Weeks is a widely published
poet, critic, short story writer,
and reviewer. His book, “To the
Maker of Globes and Other
Poems,” was published last year.
More than 150 of his poems
have been published in journals.
He is a regular reviewer for the
“Prairie Schooner” and “Bitter
root.”
