Aggie Seniors Bow Out Tonight In Lubbock
Three seniors will suit up for
the last time in an Aggie uni
form Thursday night when the
Cadet cagers close out the season
in Lubbock against Texas Tech.
Captain Paul Timmins and
forwards Bill Gasway and Ken
Norman are the performers bow
ing out against the Red Raiders.
All three will be in the start
ing line-up, as they were last
season when the Aggies captured
the Southwest Conference cham
pionship.
Going into the Tech tilt, Tim
mins is carrying a 12-point av
erage while Norman is averaging
13. Gasway is hitting close to
six points a game and is the
club’s second-leading rebounder
behind junior center John Beas
ley.
Beasley is the most prolific
Aggie scorer ever. He is firing
at over a 27-per-game clip in
league play and is averaging
over 25 for the full season. The
Kildare product now holds every
A&M individual scoring mark for
a single game and for a season’s
output. He also holds the school
rebounding record for a single
season.
The Lubbock tilt is meaning
less as far as the league stand
ings go. A&M is 7-6 in loop play
and Tech is 11-2.
The Raiders own the top mark
in the circuit but are ineligible
to win the crown because of an
infraction against SWC regula
tions. Forward Norman Reuther
was found to have passed insuf
ficient hours to allow him to play
after the spring semester.

Rollie White Coliseum, the Raid

The reason for the puns is Bill
Bradley, Olympic star, Rhodes
Scholar and two-time All-America
who climaxed a brilliant career
Wednesday when he was named
college Player of the Year by The
Associated Press.
The 6-foot-5 Bradley, a native
of Crystal City, Mo., won the
honor by a 116-30 vote over Caz-
zie Russell of Michigan in ballot
ing by 216 sports writers and
broadcasters.
“He’s something; he really is,”
van Breda Kolff said. “And I ap
preciate him more this year. I al
ways had the semi-feeling that
much of what he accomplished was
the result of his hard work and
incessant practice. But this year
his native ability has come out.”
The change in the handsome,
dark-haired Bradley has been no
ticeable off the court, too.
