The four centers are Gibson's Products Company, 1420 Highway 6 South; Lone Star Grocery & Washateria, 19th and San Jacinto; Money Comes, Money Goes At least two major changes af fecting the financial status of American families have taking place during the past decade: dou ble paychecks and more family savings. This was observed by Mrs. Wan da Meyer, Extension home manage ment specialist at A&M. Approximately 40 percent of the families with wage earners in 1950 were receiving two or more pay- checks, compared with more than 50 per cent of wage earner fami lies now receiving two or more paychecks. The working wife is primarily J responsible, Mrs. Meyer said. One out of three married women are now employed. Average family income during the past 10 years has risen from $3,300 to just under $6,000. The average is for the nation as a whole. In many instances, two or more paychecks have served to boost family income into the $10,000 or higher bracket. U-Tote-Em No. 1, 105 Walton Drive, and Madeley Pharmacy, 334 Jersey. The centers are in addition to the two existing centers, Orr’s Supermarket No. 2, 3516 Texas Avenue, and Weingarten’s In corporated at 1010 South College Avenue. Brennan reminded telephone cus tomers that the centers would col lect full payment only and that partial payments or adjustments must still be handled through the business office. Telephone sub scribers are also asked to bring their telephone bills with them when making payment at any of the six Bryan-College Station pay centers. “This new collection service was designed as an additional con- vience for our Bryan-College Sta tion telephone subscribers,” Bren nan explained. “The business office will still be available to handle service re quests or questions about telephone bills.” Rudder Serves On Awards Jury President Earl Rudder, right, is serving as Honorable Robert W. Would you like to keep your Christmas tree after Christmas? You can, said Bill Smith, for ester of the A&M Agricultural Extension Service, provided you select a live tree that will grow in Texas. “Live trees, with the roots wrapped in a ball of soil, are sold to be planted outdoors after Christmas,” Smith said. Trees that may be expected to live in most areas of the state include arborvitae, Arizona cy press, eastern redcedar, and shortleaf pine. Other trees, such as Douglas fir or Scotch pine should not be expected to live. These species require cool and moist growing conditions unlike those found in Texas, he said. To help the live Christmas tree survive after planting, follow these rules: 1. Do not move the tree in doors before it is to be decorated. 2.
