Page 4 College Station, Texas Friday, October 23, 1964 THE BATTALION Aggies Challenge Baylor JACK PYBURN . . . sophomore tackle The Cadets will brandish their finest anti-missile weapons Satur day on an effort to gun down Baylor’s blitzkrieg air attack. The battle will unfold in Waco’s Baylor Stadium at 2 p.m. The Bears have been tabbed 11 point favorites. The Aggies are catching the Bears on the rebound. The Bruins bombed Texas Tech, 28-10, last week for their first victory of the half-over season. A&M has a string of five straight setbacks working this year and would like nothing better than to sever it at Baylor’s expense. Last season, Don Trull and Lawrence Elkins put on a dazzling aerial exhibition in romping to a 34-7 triumph. Trull is gone but the peerless Elkins returns. The All-American flanker has snared 18 passes already this sea son for 413 yards and three TD’s. The former Brownwood all-stater is likely to erase every pass receiv ing record in the Southwest Con ference record book before he’s through this year. Elkins’ battery mate, Terry Southall, is also a former Brown- wood all-stater. The poised sopho more has seized the starting signal- caller position at BU and is rapidly taking up where Trull left off. The 175-pounder is the SWC’s leading passer this season with 46 completions out of 93 attempts, good for 660 yards. Still a third Brownwood star will play an important role Saturday. Rugged Ag guard Ronnie Moore will line up the right side de fensively. The Aggies will throw an all senior secondary up against the Bruins. Mike Pitman and Jerry Nichols will start at halfback and Jim Willenborg will hold down the safety slot. A&M will counter Southall with sophomore quarterback Eddie Mc- Kaughan. The swift, 185-pounder moved to the fore of the quarter back picture when Dan Mcllhany was injured in the TCU contest. The Aggies will have nine sopho mores on their two starting pla toons, six of them on offense. Mcllhany is the only Ag casualty for the tilt. Baylor will be without the services of flanker Paul Becton and starting center Ernest Erickson. Sterling linebacker Bobby Maples is due to be back in action. The game will highlight Baylor’s homecoming and a crowd of about 30,000 is expected. The Aggie Band will make their first out-of-town appearance of the season at the contest. Sports Editor WACO—The A&M Fish dropped their second game of the season Thursday night to the Baylor Cubs, 34-6. The Cubs, led by their outstand ing fullback Charles Wilson, proved too much for the scrappy Fish. Wilson carried the ball 15 times while amassing 110 yards. The hard-hitting fullback broke through continually for key gains against the hard-pressed Ag de fense. The fledgling Aggies were held to only 83 yards rushing. The leading rusher for the Ags was Frank Litterst, who carried the ball three times for 25 yards. The happy note in the Aggie offense was the superb passing of quarterback Gary Kemph, who completed 7 out of 13 passes for 103 yards. The only Fish score came o> razzle dazzle play in the set quarter. Kemph handed off halfback Bill Salle who piti back to Kemph. The quarter! then passed to Mark Weaver a 46-yard touchdown play. Baylor, playing straight f* ball, scored twice in the sett quarter, once in the third and twice in the last perio; obtain their 34 points. The Aggies had two pie blocked by the alert Baylor fense, both of which set up scop opportunities for Baylor. Fish also had two passes intj cepted which helped keep bottled up in their own end of: field. The Fish played a much bet game than the score might® cate. Costly errors were resp: sible for their downfall. FAMOUS BANOUET BLUNDERS: when mr. borgia laughed at No. 619 HIS WIFE’S COOKING IN FRONT OF HER FRIENDS!
