A Big Aggie Howdy!
Student Reception
Highlights Session
An informal reception for new students, parents and
friends with President and Mrs. Rudder and other univer
sity officials will highlight the new students conference
session which will begin Sept. 9 and continue until classes be
gin on September 14.
The reception will be held in the Ballroom of the Memo
rial Student Center at 7 p. m. Friday, September 11.

and will be followed by a general
assembly for all new students in
G. Rollie White Coliseum.
President Rudder will issue the
welcoming address at the session
and will be followed by a hooten
anny led by Robert Boone, director
of the Singing Cadets.
Thursday’s program will begin
with breakfast at 6:30 a.m. All
new students will attend assemblies
at 8. The assembly activities are
scheduled to acquaint the student
with the college or school and the
department in which he will do
his major work.
The September 10 afternoon ses
sion will include Dean of Students
James P. Hannigan, who will pre
side over talks on “Student Life
at Texas A&M University” and the
student activity programs. The
program will begin in G. Rollie
White at 1.15 p.m.
At 3 p.m. all cadets will assemble
in the coliseum where Col. D. L.
Baker, corps commandant, will
preside over the meeting. Civilian
students will meet in the Assembly
Room of the MSC where Director
will preside.
J. Gordon Gay, Coordinator of
Religious Life and general secre
tary of the YMCA, will preside
over the 7 p.m. meeting for all
students in G. Rollie White. Don
Warren, president of the YMCA
Cabinet will give “The Place of
Religion at Aggieland.” Local
ministers will be introduced to
the new students, followed by an
open house of local churches.
Friday’s program begins for all
cadets at 8 a.m. in the coliseum
where the Cadet Corps Commander
will speak on “The Corps of Ca
dets” and cadet officers will give
talks on corps life.
At 9:30, all cadets will meet in
the dormitory area where the cadet
unit commanding officers will pre
side. The cadets will resume at
1 p.m. in the same location.
Activities will close for Friday
with the reception by university
officials and exhibition and expla
nation of activities of student ac
tivity groups in the MSC.
Cadet orientation and organiza
tion of cadet units in the dormitory
area will be the agenda for Satur-
