Muster Reaches Overseas The strong spirit of the recent annual Aggie Muster reached clear to East Pakistan, according to a letter received by Dr. Jack Gray, director of the International Pro grams Office at A&M University. The letter, written by Jack T. Sloan, describes how American and Pakistani Aggies organized the program. Sloan, visual aids spe cialist with the Agricultural Ex tension Service, is on leave from A&M working with the Agency for International Development pro gram at East Pakistan Agricul tural University. The program included an in vocation by Dr. Quazi Rahim, class of 1954. Sloan, class of 1934, recited the muster tradition; Doyle Graves, class of 1931, read the roll call for the absent; and Dr. Latif Mian, class of 1962, gave the clos ing ceremony. Dr. R. G. Reeves, A&M genetics professor on leave, was a guest at the ceremony. Other former students attending the muster were Cecil Dickson, A. Y. M. Anqarul Huq, M. A. Latif, Hamid Miah, A. H. NG THE PR OFS Meat Institute Official Signed A high official in the American Meat Institute Foundation in Chi cago will join the A&M University Department of Animal Husbandry July 1 as a professor. He is Dr. Wendell A. Landmann, chief of the Division of Analyti cal and Physical Chemistry of the AMIF. Dr. O. D. Butler, head of the Department of Animal Husbandry, said the scientist’s transfer to the university is “part of our con tinuing effort here to integrate programs on beef research from conception to consumption.” “Dr. Landmann is an established leader in the field of meats chemis try,” Butler said. “He has 45 tech nical articles to his credit, many of which relate directly to the re search program he will be conduct ing here.” The department head said Land mann will work on such research as comparing chemical character istics of tender and tough beef muscle fibers. He will then at- temp to determine causes and genetical pathways leading to higher palatability beef production. ★ ★ ★ Wallace D. Beasley, chief of A&M University’s Police Train ing School, will be one of the featured speakers at the Texas Police Association’s meeting in El Paso June 16.
