Pet. Engineering Announces
Hiring Of Prof - Researcher
Dr. Henry J. (Hank) Ramey, Jr.,
has been named professor of petro
leum engineering and research
engineer at A&M.
Ramey, a native of West Vir
ginia, has an outstanding recoi'd in
his professional field, R. L. Whit
ing. professor and head of the
Department of Petroleum Engi
neering, said in making the an
nouncement.
He received his bachelor of sci
ence and doctorate in chemical en-
gienering from Purdue University.
Since then, he has worked con
tinuously with Mobil Oil Co.

the Chemistry Lecture room. At
3 p. m. they will meet with Col.
D. L. Baker, commandant of the
Corps, in the Chemistry Lecture
Room.
At this time the freshmen will
hear a discussion of the ROTC
program, procedures for obtaining
laundry marks and uniforms and
arrange a schediile to draw uni
forms either that afternoon or
Tuesday, Sept. 10.
At 7 p. m. there will be a group
interpretation of test scores in the
Chemistry Lecture Room. At 8
p. m. the students will be assembled
according to collegs and schools
for academic advisement and
assignments.
The incoming students will then
be ready to report Thursday after
noon, Sept. 12, for a standard regis
tration for all new students hav
ing less than 30 semester hours
of college work.
3. AT 7 P. M., Wednesday, Sept.
11 all new students will assemble
in G. Rollie White Coliseum for
the New Student Welcome Pro
gram.
The freshmen will be welcomed
by Harlan Roberts, president of
the student body. Later they will
hear an address by President Rud
der. Robert Boone, MSC music
coordinator, will then direct group
singing.
Thursday morning students will
assemble according to colleges. All
agriculture majors will meet in the
MSC Ballroom. Architecture stu
dents will meet in the main lounge
room of the new Architecture
Building.
All arts and sciences majors will
meet in Guion Hall. Business Ad
ministration students will assemble
in the Chemistry Lecture Room.
Engineering majors will meet in
G. Rollie White Coliseum.
All pre-veterinary medicine ma
jors will meet in the auditorium
(Room 201) of the Veterinary Med
icine Building. Texas Maritime
Academy students will meet in the
Biological Sciences Lecture Room.
AT 7 P. M. THURSDAY all new
students will meet in G. Rollie
White Coliseum. Presiding will be
J. Gordon Gay, coordinator of re
ligious life and general secretary
of the YMCA. The freshmen will
be introduced to local ministers,
hear an address on “The Place of
Religion at Aggieland,” and attend
open houses at local churches.
At 1:15 Friday all new students
will meet in G. Rollie White Coli
seum with Dean of Students James
P. Hannigan presiding. They will
hear talks on “Student Life at
A&M,” and “Student Activity
Programs.”
At 3 p. m. all military cadets
will meet with Col. Baker in G.
Rollie White Coliseum to hear talks
by the heads of the departments- of
military science, air science and the
maritime academy.
Also at 3 p. m. all incoming
civilian students will meet in the
MSC Assembly Room with Bennie
A. Zinn, director of student affairs.
Ransdell said their have also
been two special summer con
ferences for transfer students.
During new student week, on Fri
day at 8 a. m. there will be a
special assembly for all these trans
fers in the MSC.

Award Committee and an active
worker in civic affairs.
