van Buijtenen received his B.S.
degree in forestry at Landbouw-
hogeschool. He later received his

doctorate in genetics from A&M.
He has been in charge of the Tex

provement program since 1961.
He is a member of Sigma Xi;
Technical Association of the Pulp
and Paper Industry; American As
sociation for the Advancement of
Science; and American Institute of
Biological Sciences.

William L. Hoffman, who re
ceived the M.S. degree in physics
here in 1956 and most recently has
taught at Arlington State College,
will join the A&M faculty in Sept
ember.
Hoffman’s appointment as an in
structor was announced Tuesday
by Dr. James G. Potter, head of the
Department of Physics.
Hoffman also will study toward
the doctorate while a member of
the physics faculty.
