The two men will be panel members for 1964 Summer In stitutes for College Teachers. Ap proximately 175 proposals will be considered. For 1963, a total of 75 were granted in science, math and technical subjects areas. In issuing the invitations, the NSF said the problems “inherent in the task of choosing wisely those institutes which are most meritorious are by no means sim ple. We need the help of com petent people in arriving at the required decisions.” Cochran has headed the nuclear engineering department here since 1959, xvhen the department went into operation. He came to A&M from Penn State, Presbyterians llnstall Pastor Sunday Night The Rev. H. Bruce Fisher was installed as pastor of the A&M Presbyterian church during a ser vice Sunday night. The new pastor came from a Port Arthur pastorate. A reception for Fisher, who as sumed the pastorate here July 1, was held following the service. Three teaching elders or minis ters and three duling elders (lay men), named by the Presbytery of Brazos, formed the commission that installed the new minister. The Rev. Richard Thomas, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, presided at the instal lation and propounded the constitu tional questions. John Beckham, a ruling elder of the First Church, and Dr. Luther Jones and Robert Houze, elders of the A&M Church, were members of the commission. Rupel, head of the Department of Dairy Science, has been named a delegate to the World Conference on Animal Pro duction in Rome, Italy, Sept. 2-7. The announcement was made by the American Dairy Science Associa- tiota meeting at Purdue University. Rupel is immediate past president of the dairy association. Dr. and Mrs. Rupel will leave Aug. 10 enroute to the international meeting. They will tour parts of Scotland, Norway and Switzerland and return to College Station Sept. 12. The conference is sponsored by European Association for Animal Production, the American Society of Animal Science and the Ameri can Dairy Science Association. It will be held in conjunction with the “Freedom from Hunger Cam paign.” Rupel said a three-day tour of agricultural points in Southern Italy will follow the conference. He plans to participate in a special session on “Meat Production by Dairy Cattle.” “More than 33 per cent of red meat consumed in the United States comes from dairy animals,” Rupel said. “Dairy scientists have no small stake in meat production activities. His work has been associated with “Plowshare,” first in the Chemistry Division until 1961. He is now group leader of the Earth Sciences Section for Plowshare.
