Industrial Arts Textbook
Dr. Everett R. Glazener, associ
ate professor of industrial educa
tion, is the author of a textbook,
“Industrial Arts Drawing,” recent
ly released by the Steck Publish
ing Co. of Austin.
The new text is the second pub
lication written by Dr. Glazener
for the series. The previous one
was “Industrial Arts Metalwork,”
adopted recently on the Texas
textbook listing.
The new textbook, designed as
a broad coverage of the several
areas of drafting, is intended as
an introductory text for junior
high school classes in industrial
arts.

Dr. C. M. Simmang, head of the
Department of Mechanical Engi
neering, and Associate Professor
R. H. Fletcher plan to attend the
American Society of Engineering
Educators meeting in Philadelphia
June 16-21.
Simmang will participate in na
tional and regional meetings of
mechanical engineering department
heads, and Fletcher will be a panel
member for the Fourth Summer
Institute of the Teacher Improve
ment Program.

Dr. Louis S. Kornicker of the
A&M faculty will leave Friday for
Naples, Italy, where he will pre
sent two papers to an interna
tional symposium. He is an associ
ate professor in the Department of
Oceanography and Meteorology and
specializes in geological oceano
graphy.
The Anton and Reinhard Dohrn
Zoological Station at Naples spon
sors the symposium June 10 to 19.
Dr. Komicker is the only Texan
and one of four United States
scientists invited to present papers.
Also attending the symposium
will be scientists from throughout
Europe and England, Israel and
Australia.

Dr. Robert E. Stevenson of the
A&M Marine Laboratory at Gal
veston will present a paper at the
third annual international Confer
ence on Hurricanes and Tropical
Storms at Mexico City. He plans
to leave Thursday and return June
13.
Accompanying Dr. Stevenson will
be graduate student, Reed S. Arm
strong.
