ler.
Beller got the third out but fell

Baylor Track Coach Quits
To Take Vacated UT Post
o ^
/•AG
The prestige of Baylor Universi
ty dwindled quite a bit last winter
when their nationally known and
respected drama department head
resigned over disagreement with
the administration.
Thus disappeared one of the two
things they prided themselves on.
The other fell this weekend when
track coach Jack Patterson an
nounced his intention of quitting
Baylor and taking the job as head
track coach at the University of
Texas.
It was a stragic thing for
Bears and no one yet tar
real reason why. At

The Aggie Fish baseball team
lost to the Texas Shorthorns, 10-8,
in a game that produced 20 hits and
eight errors, at Kyle Field yester
day.
A good start was shown by the
Fish when they collected one run
their first time at the bat. Lance
Cobb landed on second with a
double after two outs. Pitcher
and clean-up hitter Billy Crain
then doubled to drive in Cobb for
the first run of the game.
The fifth inning proved to be a
disaster for the Fish when a dou
ble, a walk, two errors and a tri
ple brought in four runs for the
Shorthorns. A&M came back in
the bottom of the fifth with one
run and then two more in the
sixth to make the score 4-4.
In the Texas half of the seventh,
fumbles and bumbles made the
score 8-4 in favor of the Short
horns. The Fish committed four
errors and gave up no hits in the
four-run barrage by the Texans.
The Aggies came on to score one
run in the same inning while Texas
made another marker in the top
of the eighth.
Three runs were scored by the
Farmers in their half of the eighth
to almost put them back in the
ball game. McGuire reached first
by an error and Mike Smith sin
gled to left field. Then Bobby
Robinson punched a home run to
clean the base.
The Texans managed another run
across in the ninth to ice the game.
