When they realize the progress that can be achieved by such an academy, then the money will come.” John Connor, freshman from Leads, N. Y., said: “The course of study you get in the TMA is better than most of the maritime academies in that you are an engineer when you get out, not just a seaman. Danny Miller, freshman from Dallas, said: “I think the Legislature has been rash. I don’t see how they can do this after the federal gov ernment has appropriated us so much money. Richard Dix, Houston fresh man, said: “I don’t think that there’s much to this. It’s just an over sight. Hensarling of the De partment of Education and Psy chology announced Wednesday. The three-week sessions are scheduled consecutively from June 3-Aug. 2. Each workshop is an independent unit which may be taken for college credit. “This is a service to the public school administrators and super visors who are too busy to be away from their work for longer than three weeks, but who are anxious to promote their professional de velopment,” Hensarling said. The June 3-21 workshop is planned especially for supervisors and principals with major responsi bilities for instructional leadership. SCHOOL LAW is the topic of the June 24-July 12 session. This workshop is designed to help the practicing superintendent and busi ness manager with local problems. The July 15-Aug. 2 session will center upon school finance and business management problems. Dr. Emmitt Smith of West Texas State College will be the visiting professor for the first workshop. He has a national reputation for his work in teacher preparation. Hensarling will serve as campus coordinator for this session. School Supt. Dwight Kirk of Odessa has been named visiting professor for the second and third workshops of the series. He was one of 100 citizens who served on the A&M Century Council. Dr. Grady P. Parker, A&M professor of education, will serve as coordi nator of the second and third work shops.
