made “a very good presentation.”
Haines said:
“It’s not Capt. Dodson. He is
sincere, and knows what he is
doing.
BUT EVERYONE on the com
mittee was asked to cut somewhere,
and to keep A&M from getting cut,
I had to go along with this.
“Sen. Schwartz got himself cross
wise with the Senate, and it if it
had not happened in the House, it
would have in the Senate.”
After rumors about the budget
slashing reached The Battalion last
Tuesday, Schwartz commented:
“I think that this is false econ
omy on the part of the House. I
can’t believe that Texas is going
to junk this good program.”
SCHWARTZ, ALSO an A&M
graduate, has been a recent critic
of secret Senate sessions to discuss
appointments by the governor.
The Galveston senator said:
“By eliminating the appropria
tion for the Texas Maritime Acad
emy at this stage, it’s just going to
make us fight for it.”
Haines urged former students of
A&M to “plug for more money for
the school,”
‘Making Marriage Meaningful’ Slated
To Be Topic Of Second Forum Meeting
Why is there a “boom” in high
school and college marriages? Is
immaturity the killer of romance?
These and other similar questions
will be discussed Tuesday at the
second session of Marriage Forums
being conducted by the YMCA.
Dr. Robert Ledbetter, marriage
counselor from Austin, will speak
at 7:30 p.m. on “Making Marriage
Meaningful.”'
“The forums held last year are
now being repeated by popular re
quest of the students,” said J.
