Fullback Corps Is ‘Poor Loser 9 The Aggie fullback corps is gain ing a reputation around the South west Conference as a “poor loser.” In four games the quartet of Sam Byer, Jerry Rogers, Budgie Ford and Mike Kohlman has lost only one yard. Ironically, this yard was lost by Byer on the first play from scrimmage against Texas Tech. It was his first loss in three years of varsity ball. The four fullbacks have gained 107 yards in 34 carries for an average of a little over three yards. Ford leads with 40 yards in 12 carries. Next come Byer, 32 yards in 12 carries; Rogers, 20 yards in 6 carries; and Kohlman, 15 yards in 4 carries. The most promising facet of the four is their clasification. Byer is a senior, Rogers a junior, and Kohlman and Ford are sophomores. Rogers was bothered by an in jured leg suffered in the Houston game and missed the games a- gainst Texas Tech and Florida. However, his leg is healed and he will be back in action against the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs Saturday afternoon on Kyle Field. Coach Hank Fold berg With Fullbacks Foldberg’s yard-gaining quintet includes, from left to Kohlman, 5-10, 200-pounder from Jal, N. M.; Gary Cavasas, right: Sam Byer, 6-2, 220-pounder from Marlin; Jerry 6-0, 195-pounder from Houston (Jones) ; and Budgie Ford, Rogers, 5-10, 210 pounds from Corpus Christi (Ray) ; Mike 6-0, 185 pounds from Taylor. Stephan said had such an an nouncement been made, the Ari zona State-West Texas State game would not have drawn 26,639 fans. Kerbel said doctors tried to heal Pedro’s leg injury but failed. “We had every hope that he would play,” said Kerbel.
