DIRECTORATE OFFERS
the following stimulating activities ,
AGGIELAND DANCE BAND:
The Ag-gieland Dance Band furnishes music for stage shows
in Guion Hall and G. Rollie White Coliseum and for numerous
dances on the campus and in cities throughout the state.
Members are chosen on a competitive basis at the beginning
of the fall semester.
BOWLING:
Sponsors A&M’s only official bowling team. The Bowling
Committee promotes bowling tournaments among A&M stu
dents and other colleges and universities. Students interested
in learning how to bowl, or in joining the MSC A&M Bowling
Team, should become a member of this committee.

EVALUATION BOARD:
The purpose of the Evaluation Board is to make the MSC stu
dent activities program as effective as possible in accomplish
ing its aim to serve the students of Texas A&M. To achieve
this purpose, members of the board study the various activity
committees, compiling reports on the effectiveness of these
committees and their functions. To promote the best in com
mittee operation, the Evaluation Board also conducts discus
sions on leadership techniques and the purposes of student
center activities programs. Students interested in all phases
of student activities find this board most appealing.
MUSIC:

The Music Committee is in charge of musical programs p® of
sented in the MSC. The committee presents regional, natioup pi
and international artists for students interested in all typient
of music, including classical, jazz, and popular. These piwmg
grams are presented free to students who pay their acti’ icilit
fee. This committee is responsible for the selection of bail the
ground music which plays throughout the MSC and the recorlwsh
for the Record Playing Rooms, as well as for the jukebox in wain

BRIDGE:
The MSC student Bridge Committee is a group that convenes
once a week to play bridge and to discuss plays and hands.
Beginners are always welcome. Several illustrated lectures
and demonstrations are planned for the year. Participation
in national Inter-Collegiate Bridge Tournament, which is spon
sored by the National Association of College Unions and
attracts players from more than a hundred colleges, is the
highlight of the year.

FLYING KADETS:
This committee was organized for all students on the campus
who are interested in flying. Members who do not fly, but
who are interested in aeronautics, are welcomed. Each year
the Flying Kadets participate in regional and national flying
contests. In the meetings of this committee, the latest devel
opments in flying are discussed. The committee purchases
flying time at a discount for members.

BROWSING LIBRARY:
The Browsing Library Committee is in charge of selecting all
the periodicals and books placed in the MSC library, and
determining policy for its use. The committee also arranges
for the personal appearance of various Texas authors at the
MSC several times through the year.

GREAT ISSUES:
CAMERA:
Amateur photographers will be interested in the Camera Com-
mitte, with its fully equipped darkrooms. Throughout the
year, outstanding photography exhibits are brought to the
Center. Photography contests and instruction are made avail
able through this organization.
Chairman: Joe L. Finch
The presentation of nationally and internationally known
speakers who provide information on world-wide topics of
interest, and who will promote intelligent discussions relative
to these topics, is the primary function of this committee.
Great Issues members select, invite, and entertain each of
the prominent speakers presented. The presentations spon
sored by this committee are open to all students who have
paid their student activity fee. William L. Shrier, Author of
The Rise and Fall of Third Reich will be presented October 16.
James J. Wadsworth, head of the American Delegation to the
United Nations in 1960, will be presented December 13; co
sponsored by the SCONA committee. In addition, the Great
Issues Committee is presenting a new series called “World
Adventures Series”.

CREATIVE ARTS:
The Creative Arts Committee organizes and plans all the art
exhibits that are held in the MSC during the year. A Crafts
Shop is available and, if enough interest is shown, instructions
can be arranged in various media. Also through the year the
committee sponsors several prominent artists in a program
and these artists demonstrate their stvle and techniques.
DANCE:
LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE:
The Dance Committee sponsors one of the most popular activi
ties at Texas A&M—dance classes, in which instruction is
given in all types of ballroom dancing. The committee also
sponsors the many MSC dances, some after football games,
others on weekends, and the famous Aggie version of a French
nightclub—“Cafe Rue Pinalle”.

Each year the MSC Council and Directorate sponsor the An
nual A&M Student Leadership Conference. Student leaders
from all major campus organizations, including the Student
Senate, Corps of Cadets, Civilian Student Coimcil, YMCA,
Student Publications, Yell Leaders, Class Officers, and others
are invited to join the MSC leaders in the Conference. Also
student leaders from other campuses are invited to participate.
Not only do the student leaders learn techniques of leadership,
organization, managing, and parliamentary procedures, but
fellowship and recreation provides an opportunity for the
students to meet many of the college administration, faculty,
and staff.
