An old adage, indeed, that
makes Jack a dull boy.”
The “kids” on the farm are models of youthful effi
ciency. But they go a-fishin’ whenever they can.
The business men, the housewives, the schoolchildren
<=— they need their fishin’ too!
But there is another way in which the old adage is
true: ALL WORKING and no PRAYING leaves man
a dull soul! o
The God. who created us never intended us to be able
to get along without Him.
Our hands may sow seed, but they can’t make it
grow. Our minds may work out problems, but they can’t
solve the world’s chaos. All of our efficiency ^hasn’t
brought us lasting happiness or firm hope.
But when we turn to our Christian faith, and seek
its power through regular worship in our Churches —
then we find the things we need and want most!

THE CHURCH FOR AU
ALL FOR THE CHURCH
The Church is the greatest factor
on earth for the building of char
acter and good citizenship. It is a
storehouse of spiritual values. With
out a strong Church, neither de
mocracy nor civilization can sur
vive. There are four sound reasons
why every person should attend
services regularly and support the
Church. They are: (1) For his
own sake. (2) For his children's
sake. (3) For the sake of his com
munity and nation. (4) For the
sake of the Church itself, which
needs his moral and materia! sup
port. Plan to go to church regu
larly and read your Bible daily.

Firemen’s
Curriculum
Gets Change

A new course offered to firemen
attending the Texas Firemen’s
Training School this week at A&M
is one dealing with peacetime ra
diation hazards. ,
Atomic Energy Commision re
presentative George S. Miles teach
es the course, which covers such
problems as locating nuclear ener
gy hazards and basic principled
of atomic structures and radia
tion, principles of radiation mea
surement and fission process and
reactor principles.
This, is in addition to the usual
curriculum, which itself offers 13
varied courses. Basic and advanced
firefighting techniques are taught,
as well as firemen instructor train
ing, pump maintenance, industrial
fire protection, armed services fire
protection, and various fire marshal
courses.
The ‘labs’ in these courses are
ones which would probably make
many an Aggie be happy about his
own. After the firemen are lec
tured on ‘how to do it,’ they are
taken out and asked to perform
the various functions of firemen,
as is shown here.
Many good things can be said for
the course, but it is certainly real
istic.
