IN INTRAMURALS
G-l Is Volleyball Champion
Upperclassmen of G-l have had
a successful week in intramural
sports, winning Corps champion
ship in volleyball last night and
becoming top marksmen in Class
A rifle Wednesday.
Bryan Ralph fenced his way
through five bouts in the finals
of the first intramural fencing
tourney to become top Aggie foil-
man. He won four bouts and lost
one.
In the direct elimination com
petition between six formidable
Aggie fencers yesterday, a small,
right-handed Bryan Ralph out
lasted five other finalists to be
come the first A&M fencing
champion with the foil.
There were 15 bouts run off in
the finals for the foil. Jim Adams
lost the final bout with Ralph to
earn second place. Juan Terrassa
fell two bouts earlier to Adams
to take third.
The next three men in descend
ing order were: Chuso GaUndo,
Charles Organ and Charles Sex
ton.
Epee Today
Competition with the epee, or
actual dueling weapon (with
guarded tip), will begin today and
the last weapon featured will be
the sabi'e.
G-l upperclassmen totaled 1,789
points in Class A rifle to cop top
honors in that sport on Wednes
day. They were followed by B-2
with 1,754, the Maroon Band with
1,7:12, Sqd. 9 with 1,706 and D-2
with 1,704.

96 semester hours of credit may purchase
an A&M ring. The hours passing at the
time of the preliminary grade report on
March 26. 1962 may be used in satisfying
the 95 hour requirement. Those students
qualifying under this requirement may
leave their names with the ring clerk in
the Registrar's Office in order that she
may check their records to determine eligi
bility to order the ring. Orders for the
rings will be taken between April 9 and
May 31 for delivery on or about July 1.
1962. The ring clerk is on duty from
8 :00 a. m. to 12 :00 noon. Monday through
Friday of each week.

Puryear Takes Civilian Honors
Puryear Hall became volleyball
champs last night after defeating
the Vet Students in the civilian
volleyball finals.
The Vets took the first game
15-7, but failed to hold their lead.
Puryear came from behind anil
won the championship with the
last two games, 15-9 and 15-5.
The Vet players were Ed Mer
ritt, Paul Hudman," Ronnie Hamp
ton, Sonny Todd, Bob Fitzpatrick,
and Mack Cameron.
The new civilian champs are
William Miller, Randy Waligura,
Charles Hearn, Howard Kappler,
Henry Fisher, and Ramiro Galin
do.
Also playing last night, G-l
took Corps volleyball championship
after defeating C-2. Starting
promptly at 7:31, C-2 took the
lead. After 24 minutes of playing
the score stood at 10-10. From
there on G-l took the lead and
ended the first game with a score
of 15-10.
The second game found G-l tak-
I ing all the honors. Spikes by
J Dennis Christian of C-2 and Monty
' Retallaek of G-l kept the game
full of life, but when the game
ended G-l had decisively won the
battle. The score was G-l 15, and
C-2 2.
Players for C-2 were Tim Pix-
ley, A1 Weaver, Cecil Bailey,
Johnny Fenely, Dennis Christian
and James Hilton.
Corps champions are Monty Ret-
allack, Howard Lock, Dennis Wal
ker, Joe Merritt, Charles Cham
bliss, and Norman Meyer.
Semi-finalists for Corps volley- 1
ball were E-l and F-l. Sqd. 14
beat Sqd. 4 yesterday in Class A
softball. Other winners were Sqd.
