Add for good measure interviews from var ious governmental agencies, small er companies and retail firms, and a number of Texas school dis tricts. The peak of the interviewing season ends this month, and mem- ATTENTION AGGIE SENIORS COLLEGE MASTER THE COLLEGE PLAN FOR THE COLLEGE MAN: • FOR COLLEGE MEN ONLY • EXCLUSIVE BENEFITS— PREFERRED RATES • DEPOSITS CAN BE DEFERRED UNTIL YOU ARE OUT OF SCHOOL FIDELITY UNION LIFE INSURANCE CO. R. Horsley, Director of the Place ment Office said. Most A&M graduates will have a job lined up before they re ceive that coveted diploma, how ever, and the remainder of the graduates likely will locate jobs shortly afterwards, Horsley said. Some 400 “interview-days” have been set up for this college year, which means in the neighborhood of 6,000 to 6,500 individual inter views. These intexwiews come from cities across the nation. Some firms send their interviewers dur ing the spring, others during the fall, and a surprising number — 50 or so — send interviewers at both seasons of the year. These men represent industrial giants, governmental agencies of such diverse types as the Central Intelligence Agency and the Soil Conservation Service, smaller cor porations and public schools. A&M with its broad field of studies ranging all of the way from the liberal arts and sciences and education through business adminstration and agrciulture to engineering, irepresents a “rich hunting ground” for the employer. Some of the large corporations will interview graduating seniors with majors in such diverse fields as accounting, engineering and the sciences. The largest firms may hire many graduates, while some interviewers visit the campus to meet only two prospective employ ees. Horsley said A&M has the oldest placement service in the South- sociation began this work in 1939 and in 1940 the college department was established. W. Caller of Austin scans a 1907 yearbook of the old College of Industrial Arts, now Texas Women’s Uni versity at Denton. Fifty-five years ago Mrs. Caller and 28 other seniors of her class made a pledge to keep in touch with each other by writing letters. A packet of letters, one from each of the class members, arrives at a graduate's home. The graduate reads the letters, replaces her former letter with a new one and sends the packet on to the next classmate on the list, each keeping in touch with the others.
