DOUGLAS RICHARD SCHWENK From Pottstown, Pa., Schwenk is president of the Civilian Student Council, member of New Student Week Committee, Aggie Sweet heart Selection Committee and the Exchange Store Advisory Board. He is a member of the Debate Team and the Honor Code Coun cil. ROBERT SIDNEY SLOAN Editor of The Battalion, Sloan is from Dallas and is a national vice president of Sigma Delta Chi. He is corps public information officer and a member of the Southwest Conference Sportsmanship Com mittee. He was named outstand ing sophomore and junior in the Department of Journalism in suc cessive years. DAVID LEE VOELTER From Marlin, Voelter is Design Student Society president, an RV, head drum major of the Band and a major on corps staff. He holds an Opportunity Award Scholar ship, and was 1 a delegate to the seventh annual Student Forum of the ASC and AIA in Washington, D.C. JOHN STEPHEN WADDELL JR. Commanding officer of the Sec ond Battle Group, Waddell is from Longview. He worked with SCONA V, VI and VII, and is president of the senior class. He is a member of the RV’s, the Stu dent Senate, the Ring Committee and the Exchange Store Advisory Board. JESSIE RAY WHITE White is editor of the Southwest ern Veterinarian and a participant in the National Science Under graduate Research Foundation. He was an Honor Council representa tive and a member of the Apart ment Council. He is student rep resentative of Norden Labora tories and Mark L. Norris Associ ates. MARION MARTIN WALTON JR. Walton is a member of the Sen ior Court and is corps stuff schol astic officer with a 2.769 GPR. He played with the handball team at the NCAA tournament at La fayette, Ind. A DMS, Walton was named outstanding ROTC cadet his freshman and junior years. BARRY STEWART PHILLIP Majoring in veterinary medicine, Phillip is active on the Civilian Student Council, the Apartment Council and is alumni news editor of the Southwestern Veterinarian. He has held several jobs while a student at A&M, and has a 1.953 GPR. THOMAS HENRY RALPH JR. From Clifton, Ralph has been, both junior and senior yell leader, and is day student liaison officer on corps staff, and was the No. 1 U. S. Marine Corps candidate this year. He is an RV and worked with SCONA VI last year. MICHAEL MATTHEW SCHNEIDER Schneider is president of the MSC Council and Directorate, worked with SCONA V and VI and is commanding officer of Co. B-2. He is a distinguished military stu dent and was awarded the MSC Appreciation Award last year. ROBERT WILLIAM TIMME Timme is a member of corps staff with a 2.442 GPR. He is from Victoria and is hometown club president. He is a Cadet Military Court Law Officer and an RV. He was awarded several scholarships for proficiency in chemistry and is a DMS. JAMES NORMAN CROUCH Active in YMCA work, James is president of the ‘Y’ Cabinet and was counselor at the YMCA camp this summer. The Gladewater physics major is a Texaco Award Scholarship winner and has a 2.6 GPR. He is also a member of the Singing Cadets. Chemistry Staff Attend Meeting Four members of the Depart ment of Chemistry!; attended the recent combined regional meeting of the American Chemical Society organic chemistry division a pa in New Orleans, La. They were Dr. A. F. Isbell, Dr. R. D. Whealy, Dr. E. A. Meyers and J. B. Beckham. Dr. Whealy presented to the in- per entitled “A Preparation Study of the Reactions Between Lead Iodide and Amine Hydriodides.” Four members of the Depart ment of Chemistry also attended the recent Robert A.
