New System Eases £j
Laundry Problems
A new 170-foot conveyor system
and five shirt folders now in opera
tion enable the A&M laundry tc
handle 550 shirts per hour, mana
ger James H. Kingcaid said re
cently.
The system has been in opera
tion since the third week of Sept
ember. After each shirt is press
ed, it is placed on a conveyoi
hanger for transfer to the folding
machine.
In addition to transporting tht
shirts from one machine to an
other, the conveyor gives the shirl
time to cool. This is important
Kingcaid said, because if the
shirts are not allowed to cool be
fore folding, the heat has a ten
dency to re-press the folded creas
es into the shirt.
CROWD
(Continued from Page 1)
delegates and chairmen will be
held from 7:30 to 8:30 in the
Serpentine Lounge on the second
floor of the MSC.
The morning and afternoon will
be spent in roundtable discussions
followed by a review of the Corps
of Cadets on the main parade
ground for the delegates, speakers
and chairman at 4:15 p.m.
Friday night’s program is a
panel of congresmen discussing
“Liberal and Conservative Govern
ment” and included on the panel
will be Olin E. Teague, Texas;
B. F. Sisk, California; Thomas
Curtis, Missouri and William Jen
nings Bryan Dorn, South Carolina.
“The conveyor system also gives
is an opportunity for closer in-
■.pection of the shirt before folding
ind boosts production by approxi-
nately 25 per cent,” Kingcaid said,
This device plus five relatively
lew shirt-folding machines enables
vorkmen to press and fold approx-
mately 550 shirts an hour. King-
aid said the laundry personnel
ireses and folds from 40,000-45,-
)00 shirts and pants per week
n addition to handling ironed
beets and pillowcases.
Kingcaid has been laundry man-
iger at the college for 15 years,
ind has been working with laun-
Iries for 51 years.
