John Erickson Fifth /Best Passer In The Conference! John Erickson, the Aggies’ junior quarterback, has been one of the brightest spots in the sporadic Cadet attack this fall. In the eighth week of play he remains the only Aggie listed in the South west Conference’s weekly roll of statistical leaders. The six-foot, 184-pound man- under is currently the league’s fifth best passer. He has com pleted 32 of 59 passes attempted for a good .542 percentage. His passes have netted 452 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point con- vei’sion. Only Sonny Gibbs of TCU has a better gain per pass than Erickson’s 14.1 yards per completion. Fullback Lee Roy Caffey dropped out of the top ten rushing leaders, but still leads the Cadets with 261 yards on 60 carries. Caffey has averaged 4.3 yards per carry this season and has yet to be thrown for a loss. Jim Linnstaedter and Sam Byer are close behind Caffey in rushing chores. Linnstaedter has carried 56 times for 238 yards and Byer has carried 65 times for 221 yards. Ronnie Brice, who runs and throws equally well, continues to be the team’s second leading passer. He has completed eight of 14 passes for 111 yards and two touchdowns. His .571 completion percentage is second only to Mike Gotten of Texas. Speedster Travis Reagan leads the Aggies in pass receiving, scor ing, and pass interceptions. He has caught 9 passes for 188 yards, one touchdown and one conversion. His 38 points on six touchdowns and one conversion place him far ahead of his teammates in the scoring column. In addition to snagging A&M aerials, Reagan has managed to get in the way of three enemy parses and return them for 67 yardV- Second in past receptions is Junior End Bobby \lIuntington who has grabbed seven for 65 yards, a touchdown and a conversion. Third receiver is Halfback Bob Caskey who has caught six for 67 yards and one touchdown. Linnstaedter, Reagan’s soph running mate, has intercepted three passes also this season, but has returned them only 21 yards for second place in that category. George Hargett, soph halfback from Linden, and Linnstaedter have been the busiest punt return ers for the Cadets. Hargett has returned six for 61 yards and Linnstaedter, eight for 50 yards. In kickoff returns, Hargett boasts the best average, with two for 50 yards and 25.5 yards per return. Linnstaedter has been on the receiving end most often, re turning seven for 104 yards.
