Scliedole Announced For
Legal Seminar In Balias
Seminars on labor laws, personal
injury litigation and juvenile de
linquency will be conducted by the
Southwestern Legal Foundation in
Dallas during November, according
to College Station Attorney Phil
lip B. Goode.
Goode, foundation resident repre
sentative, revealed the following
schedule: Nov, labor law Institute;
Nov. 16-18, personal injury litiga
tion institute, and Nov. 27-29, ju
venile delinquency.
Among lectures at the labor law
program will be several govern
ment officials. They include, Dr.
Seymour Wolfbein, deputy assist
ant secretary of Tabor; Hobart
Taylor, Jr., special counsel, Presi
dent’s committee on equal employ
ment opportunity, and Frank W.
McCulloch, chairman, National La
bor Relations Board.
Doctors and lawyers from six
states will serve as speakers at the
personal injury conference. They
will come from Alabama, Michi
gan, Missouri, New Jersey, New
York and Texas.
David L. Hackett of Washington,
D. C., executive director of the
President’s committee on juvenile
delinquency and youth crime, will
be among those to address the
juvenile delinquency seminar.

Hall Serving
On Louisiana
Cotton Panel
Dr. Wayne Hall, dean of grad
uate studies and professor of plant
physiology and pathology, is par
ticipating as a consultant on a
cotton research panel through to
morrow at the Louisiana Agricul
tural Experiment Station, Baton,
Rouge.
The scientist was invited to the
session by the Division of Experi
ment Stations of the U. S. Depart
ment of Agriculture.
Hall and other agricultural
scientists will review cotton re
search at the Louisiana station and
draft recommendations on how to
improve the program. Discussions
will involve both production and
economics in cotton research.

Degree Options
Now Offered

Four options for an industrial
arts teaching degree are being of
fered by the Department of Indus
trial Education. They are indus
trial arts-vocational teaching, in
dustrial - distribution, industrial
technology and industrial journal
ism.
The Department of Industrial
Education offers programs at the
baccalaureate, master, and doctor
ate levels. Graduate degrees are
the master of science in industry
education, the master of industrial
education with a major in indus
trial education and the doctorate
of education in industrial educa
tion. The department offers one
of only four programs of industrial
distribution in the United States.
Industrial distribution involves all
service functions concerned with
the movement of industrial pro
ducts. It is the business of supply
ing goods to industries in the area
and offers careers in buying, ware
housing, selling,.engineering, ship
ping, advertising, financing, ac
counting and management.
Industrial arts teachers are pre
pared in several industrial areas
such as electricity and electronics,
machine processes, pattern mak
ing, founding, carpentry and cabin
et making, ceramics, leathercraft,
book-binding, sheet metal, art
metal, lapidary and materials

technology. In addition, students
receive preparation in methods of
teaching and preparation of in
structional materials.
A&M is one of only two institu
tions in the state authorized to
provide vocational-industrial teach
er training. Under provisions of
the Texas education agency quali
fied persons may become accredit
ed vocational-industrial teachers
certified to teach in approved vo
cational-industrial programs. Per
sons with at least three years ex
perience in an approved trade or
other vocation may qualify.
The vocational-industrial teacher
option in the Department of In
dustrial Education provides a
means for persons to obtain aca
demic credit for job experience and
under a planned program obtain a
college degree at the same time.
