The Ag-gies have their first winning streak since the early part of the 1959 football season when they had a string of three. It was a slaughter in San An tonio as the Cadets cut up the Trinity Tigers for a «warming .55-0 victory. There were no standouts in the contest as it was an altogether team effort. In all, 42 Ags saw action in the game—the entire traveling squad. After a small scare from Trin ity’s passing, the Aggies settled down and regained their poise in pass defense that had them sixth in the nation in that department last week. Brice hauls in aerial before halftime Aggie Keglers Begin Play; Win Season’s First Meet By JIM BUTLER The first meeting of the Texas Intercollegiate Bowling Confer ence was held Saturday on the Memorial Student Center Lanes. Teams participating were A&M, Texas, Sam Houston State, Ar lington State, San Antonio College and Texas Christian University. In first place after Saturday's three matches was A&M with a record of 9 wins and 3 losses. Second place went to Sam Hous ton State, who won 8 games and lost 4. TCU occupied third place, winning 7 and losing 5. High individual series for this month’s round wa»shot by A&M’s Bob Korose, who lad a 617. Ko- rose also had high individual game with 235 and high average with 187. The Aggies completely dom inated the first round as they also won high team game with 978 and high team series with 2761. The Aggie second match team was in Houston over the weekend for the organizational meeting of the Gulf Coast College Conference, which the Aggies won last year. The first meeting of the season was set up for Houston on Oct. 29. Competing in this league will be the University of Houston, St. Thomas University, Rice Univer sity, Texas University, Blinn Col lege of Brenham, and A&M. The second team bowled an ex hibition match against the Palace All-Stars, taking two out of the three games. The Aggies had high individual game and series with George Calloway shooting 235-628. The Aggies had a 989 team game which w’as high along with their 2739 series. Eddie Autry won first place in the scratch division of the All- College Bowling Tournament which ended Friday with a 676. Autry won a trophy and a bowling ball. Similar prizes were award ed to Nolan Mathews for his first place finish in the handicap divi sion with a 715. Second and third places in the handicap went to Eddie Autry, 710, and Jakie Nicholson, 696. Sec ond place in the scratch went to Larry Dantzler with a 627. Chuck Haynes and Tony Servello tied for third with 603’s. Ags Scored 8 Times The Ags crossed the Tigers’ goal line eight times during the course of the night and stumpy Travis Reagan led the TD rampage with three. Others scoring were soph omore halfback Jim Linnstaedter, senior halfback Jjm Murphy, jun ior halfback Ronnie Ledbetter, junior quarterback John Erickson and junior fullback Lee Roy Caf- fey. Although Trinity, a breather in the Cadets’ schedule, was tough in the first quarter, mostly on the arm of quarterback Joe McCarty, they never seriously threatened again. In fact, the Tigers could never reach Aggie territory in the second half mostly because the Cadets had the ball all the time. Brice Intercepts In a game which provided many thrills for the Aggies, probably the most exciting playnvas Ronnie Brice’s interception return on the last play of the first half. Brice grabbed the pigskin on the A&M 20-yard line and returned it to the Trinity 18 before being knocked out of bounds. The thiid quarter was the big one for the Ags as they massed together 27 points. Wayland Sim mons broke through and blocked Bennie Reagan’s punt early in the third period to start the riot. Trinity’s blunders were numer ous as they committed six big mis takes in fumbles and pass intex 1 - Yankees Purchase Robin Roberts From Philadelphia NEW YORK (A 3 ) — The New York Yankees Monday bought the vetex*an Robin Roberts from the Philadelphia Phillies! The Yanks announced it was a straight cash deal and the amount of money was not disclosed. Roberts, 35-year-old right-hand er, won only one game and lost 10 for the last place Phillies in 1961. However, in 14 years in the National League he won 234 games and lost 199. “We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by this pur chase,” said Roy Harney, Yankee general manager. “I know Robin well and he’s a proud competitor.
