The College Station State Bank
will move to its new site Nov. 15.
Located two blocks east of the
pi-esent site, the charcoal grey
brick building will have 7,000
square feet of centrally heated
and air conditioned space.
The main attractions of the
building are two drive-in windows,
a walk-in window, eight paying
and receiving teller booths, one
collection window and a note de
partment.
“The growth of College Station
and the bank made it necessary to
provide better banking and park
ing facilities,” said Harold Sulli
van, bank president.
Merrell and Vrooman were the
architects. The building was con
tracted by the B-W Construction
Company.
In 1946 the bank was estab
lished with a capital of $50,000
and a $10,000 surplus. At this
time the bank was located in two
small pre-fabricated buildings on
its present site.
In 1949 the present building
was built while the bank was op
erated in a small frame building
one-half block east of its present
location. Since its establishment
the bank has grown to its present
capital of $200,000 and $105,000
surplus.
