The all-time high was in 1946 when veteran enrollment numbered 1,435. RPresident E. J. Howell said, “We are pleased with the enrollment, not only with the size of the junior class and the large increase in women students but with the large freshmen class which will carry $ver during the next four years.” ■ A breakdown provided by the registrar showed a total of 965 Hales and 424 women. Enrollment figures compared to last year’s 1,144 show an increase of 21.4 per cent. ■ Tarleton is in its first year as a Hnior college. She reigned over the annual Peanut Bowl activities in Eastland on Sept. 30. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. MacMoy. E. E. Professor Patents Two Oil Finding Tools Dr. A. L. Parrack, ’35, super visor of exploration research for Texaco’s Bellaire Laboratories, has just received two patents for devices related to seismic exploration and recording. Parrack received his B.S. de gree in electrical engineering in 1935, an M.S. degree in electrical engineering ih 1945 and a Ph.D. degree in physical chemistry in 1951. All degrees were giver) by A&M. Pinky Downs Says 9,453 Visitors The A&M Campus attracted a total of 9,453 visitors during the four months from June to Sep tember 1961, according to P. L. Downs Jr., official greeter of the College. This is the number of visitors that attended short courses, con ferences, class reunions and other scheduled meetings. A&M has been the host to 725,969 visitors for scheduled meetings in the last twelve years and four months from June 1, 1949 to October 1, 1961. New Training Set For NTSC Cadets Air Force ROTC at North Texas State University will adapt a new aspect of training this fall for cadets enrolled in Air Science 401 called “Operation Over-the-Shoul- der.” # Designed for cadets not train ing for either pilot or navigator contracts, the students will go to Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, and follow officers who are performing the jobs the cadets are training for at school. Observing the officers in action, the cadets will see application of the theory studied in class. Areas of instruction include weather, finance, education, personnel and special investigation.
