Moms, Dads Meet
“The Social Studies” will be the
topic for discussion at the regular
meeting of the A&M Consolidated
Mothers and Dads Club when it
meets tonight. The program will
begin at 7:30 p.m. in the new all
purpose room of the High School.
The panel discussion will feature
a presentation from the various
grade levels. Appearing will be
Mrs. Jack Sloan, Mrs. Pearl Tan-
zer, Mrs. Dorothy Rush and Pat
Ozement, who will speak about ten
minutes each. Following the pre
sentation of each person a ques
tion and answer period will follow.

in making the announcement of the
meeting, that this is the last reg
ular meeting of the Mothers and
Dads Club for the year and as a
result expressed the desire that a
good crowd be present. All pat
rons of the A&M Consolidated
School District are invited.
Newman Fete
Set Tomorrow
The Rev. Sylvester Fuchs, pastor
of St. Peter’s parish in Bellville,
will be the guest speaker tomorrow
night at 8 for the A&M Newman
Club banquet in the Memorial Stu
dent Center.
Rev. Fuchs, a district moderator
of Catholic youth, is an Aggie ex
and a former chaplain of the cam
pus Newman Club.
The guest of honor will be the
Rev. Tim Valenta, who has been
the Newman Club sponsor for 28
years.
New officers to be installed at
the banquet are Steadman Davis,
president; John Whittington, vice
president; Corky Forester, treas
urer; Roger Beck, secretary, and
Joe Peti’azio, reporter.
Stewart To Speak
To Wesley Group
The Rev. Dick Stewart, college
pastor at Wiley College, Marshall,
will speak to the A&M Wesley
Foundation tomorrow night at 7:15.
His subject will be “The Non-Vio
lent Technique in Racial Advance
ment.”

The Marine Corps Officer Se
lection Team from Houston is
making its final visit to Aggie-
land this semester today through
Friday. As in the past, the team,
headed by Capt. F. L. Tolleson, is
set up in the Memorial Student
Center for the purpose of ex
plaining the various programs of
fered to the students who desire
a commission in the Marine Corps.
The team will also be admin
istering the Marine Corps Reserve
Officer Candidate Selection Test
and the Aviation Qualification
Tests from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. each day
in the MSC. Interested students
are encouraged to contact them
and arrange to take the tests at
no obligation to the student.
This year eight A&M graduates
will receive commissions in the
Marine Corps. On May 27 five
graduates will be commissioned.
Two will receive commissions
through the Marine Corps PLC
(Aviation) program. They are:
William A. James and Ray Dupree.
They will go to Flight Training
at Pensacola, Fla. June 15 for 15
to 18 months of Flight Training.
Two others are receiving com
missions through the PLC
(Ground) program. They are:
Donald W. Cantrell and Edwin H.
Harris, Jr. They will go to Quan-
tico, Va. for six months of special
training July 1.
In addition to the above listed
men one more man will receive a
commission on May 27. He is
Robert M. Craft, who is being com
missioned through a little-known
program of the Marine Corps, the
PLC (Law) program. He will en
ter Law School and not go to ac
tive duty until he receives his
Law Degree, at which time he is
eligible for a promation to 1st Lt.
Under this program Craft will
spend his entire time in the Ma
rine Corps in a Lawyer’s billet.
Later in August of this y#ar
three more men will be commis
sioned into the Marine Corps.
They are Wayne W. Frazior, who
will also gain his commission
through the PLC (Aviation) pro
gram. and John B. Hendricks and
Revedy C. Ray, III, who have
gained their commissions through
the PYC (Ground) program.
Ray was the number one man
in the nation last summer in PLC
summer tfaining. In gaining this
honor he was training on a com
petitive basis with all the PLC’s
in the nation.

Bachelor’s Degree will wear the appropri
ate uniform. AH military personnel who
are candidates for degrees, graduate or un
dergraduate, will wear the uniform only.
Rental of caps and gowns may be ar
ranged with the Exchange Store. Orders
may be placed between 8 :00 a. m. Monday,
May 8 and 12:00 noon Saturday, May 20.
The rental is as follows: Doctor’s cap and
gown $5.25, Master’s cap and gown $4.75,
Bachelor’s cap and gown $4.25. Hood rental
is the same as that for cap and gown.
