one yesterday only they were at
someone each time,” Carroll said.
The biggest Fish game is coming
next Wednesday on Kyle Field

Pro Grid TV Plans Start
By The Associated Press
SAN FRANCISCO — National
Football League owners convene-
here today to formulate television
plans and devise methods of re
stocking clubs in case of a major
disaster.
If they were bringing fireworks
to this annual meeting, they were
well hidden.
There was an indication the NFL
might move up its draft dates
this season. In accordance with
a request from the National Col
legiate Athletic Assn., the NFL
delayed drafting follegiate talent
after last season.! But the new
and rival American Football
League drafted early, giving it
several weeks to contact its choices
before the NFL made its selections.
Some of the NFL owners favor
a television package deal with one
network handling all of it. The
new AFL had such an arrange
ment with ABC for televising its
games last fall.
In the 13-member NFL, which
expands to 14 this year, 11 dubs
had contracts with the Columbia
Broadcasting System, one with the
National Broadcasting Co., and the
other with an organization called
Sport Network.

HS Track
By The Associated Press
Records will be scarce and the
fight for the championship close
in the Class AA Division of school
boy track next week in Austin.
Taylor, through strength in
both relays, appears the most
likely winner. But Ft. Stockton
and Iowa Park are good enough
that either could make it a ter
rific fight.
Taylor doesn’t have a first place
potential except possibly in the
440-yard relay, but most certainly
a second place finish there.
Taylor also looks good for sec
ond in the mile relay.
The relays count more points
than the individual events. Fort
Stockton has the best time in the
state in the mile relay—3:24.3—
and qualified a team in the 440-
yard relay.
Iowa Park was the Class A
champion last year and has moved
into the next higher classification
with a fair point potential.
Stamford looks like the best
44-yard relay entry. Its time' was
43.5 in the regional meet and that’s
just one-tenth of a second over
the record.
Bobby Gilbreath of Iowa Park
may be the only double winner.
He leads the state in the high
hurdles with 19.3, a tenth of a
second over the record, and in the
broad jump with 22 feet 6 inches.
The only record that appears
virtually certain will come in the
discus throw where Richard Nei-
son of Mansfield has a throw of
168 feet 7 inches. The record is
163-11.
