1G PLAYERS
(Continued from Page 1)
Paxton, playing the part of Sir
Anthony Absolute; Captain Abso
lute played by Jarrel Fletcher;
David White in the role of Faulk-
land; Sam Cely cast as Sir Lucious
OTrigger, and Fag played by
Oscar Saunders.
Other members of the east in
clude Randy Yeargen in the part
of David; Keith Thompson playing
Thomas; Gail Wilson in the role
of Mrs. Maloprop; Doris Hampton
plajdng Lydia Languish, and Jane
Coulter in the role of Julia, with
Sue Abbot as Lucy.
The Aggie Players presented an
outstanding play last November,
“Winterset,” which has been ac
claimed the greatest of American
tragedies. The drama group usually
presents at least two major pro
ductions during the school year,
and often presents more than this
number.
With the added activities of two
shows, the Players will be busy for
the next few weeks with stepped
up rehearsals, coordinating their
talent to produce a finished prod
uct: superior entertainment, Aggie-
land style.

Reyna Awarded Research Fellowship
Eddie Reyna, a research assist
ant in the A & M Department of
Physics is one of six graduate stu
dents from Texas colleges and uni-
tersities who have been awarded
jammer research fellowships in
atomic energy by the Texas A-
tomic Energy Research Founda
tion and the General Atomic Di-
tision of General Dynamics Cor-
(oration. This announcement was
made today by C. L. Young, presi-
lentof the Foundation, which con
sists of 11 Texas power companies.
Recipients of the research fel-
iiwships are: Miss Margaret Ann
tanan of Terrell, Dwight L.
of Raymondville, Edward J.
Dowdy of San Antonio, Worth B.
East, Jr. of Houston, Mark D.
feegel of Denton and Reyna, of
Huntsville.
The summer fellowship program
»as inaugurated in 1960 by the
Foundation and General Atomic,
»lio have, for the past five years
y sponsored the world’s first
and largest privately financed pro
gram of controlled thermonuclear
research.
The research is directed toward
finding a way of controlling and
sustaining a fusion reaction. If
nuclear fusion—the energy pro
cess of the sun and star—can he
brought under control for the pro
duction of electrical power, the
world will have an almost limit
less source of fuel to meet its fu
ture energy requirements. This is
because the fuel for fusion, deu
terium, is present in abundance
in the oceans of the world.
The recipients of the six fellow
ships were selected by a commit
tee composed of representatives
of Texas educational institutions,
General Atomic and the Founda
tion. They will assist in theoreti
cal and experimental research at
the General Atomic laboratory in
San Diego, Calif., this summer.
All of the recipients intend to pur
sue their studies toward advanced
degrees in atomic science or math
ematics.
Miss Brennan, who is a senior
mathematics major at the Univer
sity of Dallas, will begin work on
her Master’s degree after gradua
tion this June. Cole expects to re
ceive his Master’s degree in elec
trical engineering from the Uni
versity of Texas in June. Dowdy
is a physics and mathematics stu
dent at St. Mary’s University in
San Antonio where he is prepar
ing for a career in nuclear phys
ics.
Hurt is a candidate for a Mas
ter’s degree in physics at the Uni
versity of Texas and is presently
a research assistant in the Uni
versity’s physics department. Kre-
gel expects to receive his Master
of Science degree in June from
North Texas State College in Den
ton where he is currently doing
research in plasma dynamics. Rey
na, who is a research assistant in
the Department of Physics ob
tained his Master of Science de
gree in 1959.
In announcing the awarding of
the fellowships, Young declared:
“One of the purposes of the Texas
Atomic Energy Research Founda
tion is to aid and foster scientific
knowledge in Texas. We feel that
these fellowships, which proved so
successful last year, will serve this
purpose by bringing into the state
some of the knowledge and experi
ence being developed by the sci
entists at General Atomic.”
Young is president of the West
Texas Utilities Company of Abi
lene, one of the 11 companies com
prising the Foundation. The other
member companies are: Central
Power & Light Co., Community
Public Service Co., Dallas Power
& Light Co., El Paso Electric Co.,
Gulf States Utilities Co., Houston
