The Stanley twins, Don and Pat,
scored 10 and 8 points, respective
ly, to shoot the Cadets into a 35-18
lead at halftime. Trinity rallied
to play the visitors on even terms
in the last half but never succeeded
in cutting A&M’s margin to less
than 16 points.
Broussard High Man
Carroll Broussard led the Aggie
scoring with 18 points on six field
goals and the same number of
free throws. Pat Stanley finished
with 14 points and Don got 10.
Tom Neely led the Tigers with
13 points. John Canavan was sec
ond . in scoring for Trinity with
10 points although he did not bag
a field goal until after 10 minutes
of the last half.
A&M had a 34.7 shooting aver
age on field goals, Trinity 27.9.
The Tigers connected on only 10
of 23 free throws and the Aggies
were almost as bad with 16 out
of 26.
With this one slim win under
their belts, the Aggies will head
for Manhattan, Kan., tomorrow
for a game with Kansas State,
who has fielded an above average
team in the last few years.

Schoolboys
Hit Semi-Finals
This Weekend
By HAROLD V. RATLIFF
Associated Press Sports Writer
The Texas schoolboy football
race cuts to its semi-finals this
week and favorites are well de
fined in most of the 16 games
required to do it.
Wichita Falls, one of the win-
ningest teams in Texas schoolboy
football history — three state
championships in 12 years—tees
off against an upstart from the
far west Saturday at Wichita
Falls. Ysleta is the opposition and
for once the El Paso district rep
resentative doesn’t look easy.
Fort Worth Paschal meets Luf
kin at Fort Worth, Houston Bel-
laire will be at Port Arthur and
Corpus Christ! Miller hosts San
Antonio Jefferson in the other
quarter-final games of Class
AAAA.
Class AAA has one team it had
n’t expected—Seguin. This school,
beaten in the first round, was're
instated in the race when San
Antonio Sam Houston, Seguin’s
conqueror, was knocked out by a
Texas Interscholastic League rul
ing.
The action came because a Sam
Houston player struck an official
during a game with Uvalde Oct.
28.
Seguin, which had an unbeaten,
untied record before losing to
Sam Houston 26-7, will play Port
Lavaca at Sequin Friday night.
In other Class AAA games un
beaten Jacksonville, the favorite,
takes on Greenville at Commerce;
undefeated, untied Monahans
clashes with Brownwood at Brown-
wood and Cleburne hosts La-
Marque.
Monahans, Greenville, Cleburne
and Port Lavaca will be the favor-
|ites.
Consolidated Falls;
Tournament Next
By RUSSELL BROWN
Coach Jack Churchill’s A&M
'Consolidated Tigers are still after
the elusive first win of 1960 as
the Maroon and White tackles
Sunset High of Dallas in the open
ing round of the Bryan Tourna
ment today.
The Bengals were the victims
of another one-point decision Tues
day night in Conroe as the hosts
bucketed a field shot as the buzzer
sounded for a disputed 39-38 win.
Gain and Lose
The Bengals gained a eager dur
ing the week and lost another in
definitely. John Pedigo, a 5-9
senior guard, saw both “A” and
“B” team action against Conroe
after being on the sidelines since
the end of football with a foot
injury. 6-% Harris Marshall
stayed home Tuesday because of
grade trouble and is out indefin
itely. Marshall had been counted
on for starting honors at high post
position and for his rebounding
strength.
Churchill will probably go with
Jim Riggs, John Stark and Condy
Pugh under the bucket with Pedi
go and P. D. Gandy being the out
side men against Sunset. Danny
Garner should also see action. All
six are senior squadmen with the
exception of Stark, a junior.
Tigers Get Lead
The Bengals jumped off quickly
with- their fast-moving offense
against Conroe, building up a 14-8
quarter lead with the aid of Jim
Riggs’ six tallies. Rox Jacobsen
marked up the eight for Conroe
and added two more buckets be
fore giving way to his teammates.
The Bengals continued to widen
their margin, holding a 20-10 edge
early in the second period, before
Conroe began to bear down. Paced
by Jacobsen and Tom Knight, the
hosts walked off the floor at the
half trailing by only 24-22.
Pugh, Gandy, and Pedigo hit
successively for the Maroon and
White as they held a 34-27 edge
at the three-quarter mark.
Knight copied Jacobsen’s per
formance in the last period as he
pumped in all but one of the Ti
gers’ 12-point total. Knight’s two-
pointer with less than a minute
on the clock tied the count at
37-37. But with . six seconds on
the clock, Pedigo sank a charity
toss for a 38-37 margin. Conroe
took the rebound and called time
with three seconds on the clock
to go, setting up the photo finish.
Last-Minute Shot
When the clubs went back to
play, Conroe tossed two passes,
the final one a lob to Knight who
laid in the two-pointer amid the
bedlam of the stands and the sound
of the gun. A quick discussion
by officials finally ruled the shot
good.
Jacobsen had 18 points while
Knight tallied 13 for the winners,
and P. D. Gandy had 11 for the
Tigers.
