Pape 8 College Station, Texas Thursday, September 15, 1960 THE BATTALION Zinn Launches ‘Poop Session’ For Transfers Sophomore, junior and senior students transfering to A&M from other collea-es will have an opnor- tunity to learn a little bit about their new school at a special “transfer student orientation ses sion” Friday morninty at 9 o’clock, according to Director of Student Affairs, Bennie A. Zinn. “Students transfering to A&M v/ith less than 60 hours are classed as freshmen and must attend the freshmen orientation program,” Zenn said. “But upperclassmen transfers are treated by the col lege as returning students. In the past, no attempt has been made to help these men adjust to their new surroundings.” Zinn said he has sent post cards to 100 upperclassmen transfers asking them to meet on the cam pus Friday morning for a brief ori entation program. “This is my own idea,” Zinn. said. “We have been losing a lot of junior college people simply be cause they feel lost when they get to A&M and nobody seems to care. “These students are not fresh men, but they are new students. Some sort of orientation program should be set up for them.” An orientation program for these transfer students was initi ated last year, said Zann, but the cards were mailed too late and only 35 were able to attend. “We covered a lot of ground in the three-hour session last year, and I think the boys got a lot out of it,” he said. “We hope to have more boys' and a better program this year.” “There is an awfully lot to say about A&M to any group of new students, so w 7 e’ll have to talk long and hard in the short time we have.” “If the program is a success Ihis year, we may be able to ex pand it next year,” Zinn said. no bigger than a pack of gum!, New Vet Profs Dr. Chester F.
