Walter Williams CADET SLOUCH ! ^ I by Jim Earle •■'••v-- • r Worthwhile Students from throughout Texas will begin arriving to day for the annual High School Career Day on the Texas A&M campus. Numerous activities have been placed on the program to give graduating high school seniors a vivid glimpse of a modern college campus—whether they choose to seek an advanced education here or not. Optimism has been expressed over the event also, due to a lack of names of prospective visitors for the annual Day. Early figures compared with last year have fallen somewhat short. Nonetheless, it would behoove all students to show every courtesy and aid to the young visitors. These men are pros pective Aggies and are also attempting to get a glimpse of college life—particularly here at Texas A&M. They will be visiting classes, eating in the college dining halls, seeking information of college life and trying to find what may be offered in the way of their chosen field here. The Career Day is an asset to both the college and those attending. High school graduates will be afforded a comprehensive view of college life here at Texas A&M and are given an opportunity to see just what is offered, an event not offered at many other major colleges. Tours of laboratories, multi-million dollar research facil ities, research laboratories, discussions with professors and students in the various departments and Schools and ob servation of dormitory life are scheduled on the program. Each student has an obligation as a representative of Texas A&M to give these visitors all help possible in every way. Those who recall visiting the Texas A&M campus during the close of their senior year in high school remem ber the perspective derived from the tours, observations and sessions. A clearer picture of life at Texas A&M was given and numerous questions common to high school stu dents were answered. All visitors will have similar questions and thoughts of life in college they will be seeking answers to. These solutions and answers can best be given by the students at Texas A&M, along with information from heads and pro fessors in the numerous departments. Texas A&M stands to profit as do the graduating sen iors who are arriving on campus, especially those who will be attending Texas A&M next fall. It goes without saying the students will be expected to show these young men a concise view of the college and be every help necessary to answer and explain the many questions and to show the campus and facilities to the guests. Career Day can be a more than worthwhile event .... ★ ★ ★ Welcome Texas A&M extends a cordial welcome to the high •school seniors on campus this weekend for the annual High School Career Day.
