Dames Set Style Show
The A&M Chapter of the Uni
versity Dames Club will hold its
annual “Having An Affair With
Fashion” this Sunday from 3-5
p.m. in the Memorial Student Cen
ter Ballroom.
This year’s show i s given by
Pruitt’s Fabric Shop 0 f College
Station with models selected by
Pruitt’s and from the Aggie
Wives’ Clubs.

A&M’s senior meats judging
team won second place in a na
tional contest held at the Amer*
iean Royal Livestock Show at Kan
sas City, Mo.
Coach Frank A. Orts, research
assistant in the Department of
Animal Husbandry, said the team
was first in beef grading and
lamb carcass judging.
Team members were Don Os
bourn of Valley Spring, fourth
high individual in beef grading;
Joe Joyce of San Marcos, fourth
high individual overall; Henry
Fitzhugh of San Antonio, 10th
high man overall; and Leroy Keese
of Bandera.

first place in the contest.

Tickets are 50</' and will be avail
able at the door. Local mer
chants have donated 10 items that
will be given away as door prizes
during the show.
In charge of the show, which is
sponsored by the Dames Club as
their money raising project for
this year are: Mrs. William B.
Chapman, chairman; Mrs. Robert
L. Spaw and Mrs. James R. Peuri-
foy, publicity; Mrs. Bill Mogford,
commentator and Mrs. Milton D.
Williams, Pruitt’s consultant.

Receives Grant
A grant of $2,500 has been made
to the Department of Petroleum
Engineering here by the American
Assn, of Oilwell Drilling Contrac
tors, Robert L. Whiting, head of
the department, announced today.
The fund will be used to assist
the department in instituting an
Advanced Drilling Engineering
Course for the Petroleum Industry
Personnel, plans for which have
been finalized.

ing five research projects in the
A&M College System, have been
Injured Aggie
Visit Financed
By 1st Brigade
Two cadet captains in the 1st
Brigade, Jack Kingston and Ryan
Self, will* make a trip to Fort
Worth to visit the three Aggies
injured last weekend in an auto
accident. The trip will be finan
ced by money contributed by the
1st Brigade.
Kingston and Self will visit Ray
Murski, Craig Trotman, Don Lane
and the three girls who were with
them last weekend when the car
in which they were riding struck
a concrete abutment on a Fort
Worth freeway.
The accident occured at approxi
mately 8:15 Saturday night when
the Aggies and their dates were
traveling north on the Fort Worth
Freeway. They were approaching
downtown Fort Worth when they
neared a four-level overpass call
ed a “mixmaster”. Lane, the driv
er, attempted to turn off the ex
pressway, but his exit was block
ed by th8 concrete abutment.
The three injured Aggies are
reported to be in good condition.
The TCU coeds, Geanie Teacher,
Ann Leach, and Jane Wagner are
believed to be in satisfactory con
dition.
The money contributed by the
1st Brigade, approximately $90,
will be used to finance the trip
and to purchase flowers and gifts
for the girls. Self and Kingston
will proclaim the girls’ ‘Sweet
hearts of the First Brigade” and
will present them with a stuffed
animal bearing an Aggie emblem.
Kingston and Self will also take
Craig Trotman’s mother to din
ner during their stay in Fort
Worth.
