College in Denton.
The delegates to the meeting
heard a St. Louis banker and for
mer president of the U. S. Cham
ber of Commerce, William A. Mc
Donnell,\ deliver a major address.

FORT WORTH—A prominent
Baptist pastor from College Sta
tion celebrated a significant 40th
anniversary here Saturday.
The Rev. and Mrs. R. L. Brown,
former pastor of the First Baptist
Church of College Station for .30
years, were special guests at the
40th annual state Baptist Student
Union Convention meeting here
this weekend.
The Rev. and Mrs. Brown
have not missed a single BSU Con
vention since the students met for
the first time 40 years ago.
The Rev. Brown was the
first Baptist Student Union direc
tor at A&M, setting up the full
time student work here in 1920.
The enthusiastic minister also
organized the Bible department at
A&M 12 years ago and taught in
the department during its opening
semester.
Although retired from the full
time ministi'y, the Rev. Brown
.still pounds the pulpit every Sun
day as supply pastor at the old
Independence Baptist Church in
Independence.
The senior wool judging team
and the senior livestock judging
team of A&M both won first places
in judging contests at the Amer
ican Royal Livestock Show now
underway in Kansas City, Mo.
Team Coach of the wool judging
team, C. F. Parker of the Depart
ment of Animal Husbandry, said
members of the team are Lovell
Kuykendall of Cherokee, Hudson
Climp, Burnet; John Hodge, Sa-
lado and Joe Joyce of San Marcos.
Joyce was high individual in the
overall contest, first in breed
fleeces, fifth in grading fleeces
and fifth in commercial fleeces.
Hodge was second high individual
in the overall wool contest and
first in grading fleeces.
' L. D. Wythe, Jr., assistant pro
fessor in the Department of Ani
mal Husbandry and coach of the
livestock judging team, said the
group also was the high team in
sheep, fourth in cattle, sixth in
Quarter Horses and Hth in swine.
Members of the livestock judg
ing team include Carrol Osborne
of Llano; Robert Van Winkle of
Kilgore; Kuykendall; Jim Hollo
way Stanton; Joyce; and Ken
neth McGee of Palestine.
Professor Wythe said Osborne
was fifth high individual in all
classes of livestock; Joyce, third
in sheep.

Any undergraduate student who is in good
standing and who has attained senior
classification (95 semester hours) may
order the A. and M. ring and the miniature
ring. Any graduate student who has quali
fied as an applicant for a degree may
order the A. and M. rings. All ring's must
be paid for in full when placing the order.
