Awards Given Consolidated Athletic Stars Edgar Feldman, A&M Consoli dated’s football and baseball star, received two top trophies at the annual Consolidated Athletic Ban quet held Wednesday night in the A&M Presbyterian Church Youth Center and sponsored by the Col lege Station Kiwanis Club. Coach Dick Gardemal presented the outstanding back award to Feldman and the outstanding line man award to Pete Rodriquez. Feldman also was named the Most Valuable Player in football and baseball. Don Avera received the outstand ing award in basketball. Coach Larry Hayes announced letter awards in basketball and golf. Art Bright recognized the track men, singling out Jim Wright, who finished second in the state in discus throw. Other track let- termen were Dee Smith and Bruce Thompson. Baseball tri-captains, Rodriquez, Feldman and Kelly Parker were named by Coach Edsel Jones. Bob by Ross, John Wayne Todd, George Carroll, Ben Jackson, Mike Deni son, Victor Clark, Richard Joyer and Richard Storms were the other baseball lettermen. Rogelio Nunez was recognized as the outstanding swimmer and Avera was recog nized in tennis. Both men went to the state finals in their sport. Dr. R. E. Leighton was master of ceremonies for the banquet and he introduced coaches Hayes, Gardemal, Bright, Jones and Ed Logan. School officials present were Principal E. P. Ozment and W. T. Riedel, school superinten dent. Joe Holder, who will coach Co lumbia University’s soccer team next fall, was a center halfback on Oberlin’s unbeaten 1952 team. He also captained the 11 that season.
