B. Carroll snagged the fly out in center- field that spelled the last out for the Rice Owls, he took a firm grip on the ball and went running in towards the mound to join the Aggie bench congratulating Wayne Schaper on winning the game and cinching the Southwest Conference co-championship. Schaper ended up with the ball that completed the game, but not for long. It seems the team had promised the winning ball to Coach Tom Chandler’s wife, Willadean, to place upon the mantle. ★ ★ ★ Rightfielder Stuffy Davis being congratulated by a fan after the game; “Man slip me five, we’re in there.” INTRAMURALS The intramural track meet con tinued in the preliminaries yester day, with the 880-yard relay and the low hurdles being run in both jlasses. The Class A pole vault competition was also completed.
