Civilian Room Reservation
Procedure for Fall Set Up
Procedure for civilian students
wishing to make room reservations
for the fall semester, 1959, in Law
(Ramps 1-6), Puryear, Mitchell,
Legett, Milner, and Walton, was
announced by Harry L. Boyer,
housing manager.
“They should contact the house
master of the dormitory concerned
and get signed up on his fall ros
ter,” Boyer said.
A room reservation card and $6
deposit should be sent to the Fis
cal Office by July 31, he added.
The cut-off date for signing up
for the dormitories concerned will
be May 30, except the Walton ros
ter which will be turned in to the
Housing Office on May 15, said
Boyer.
Students making reservations as
above will have room priority over
students during the summer, pro
vided their room reservations are
in by July 31. Students who go
to summer school must use the
same procedure as students who do
not in order to insure obtaining
desired rooms in the fall.
Four Seniors
To Receive
Faculty Award
Engineering Faculty Achieve
ment awards will be presented to
four graduating seniors in the
School of Engineering May 18. The
presentations will be made at the
faculty meeting in the Chemistry
Building at 4 p.m.
Each winner will get a plaque
with his name engraved on it and
the four men’s names will be put
down on the permanent records of
the college.
A point system is used to deter
mine who will receive the awards.
The individual receives points for
scholastic achievement, previous
awards, military activities, ath
letics, offices and activities parti
cipated in and how much he earned
of his college expenses. The four
pei’sons compiling the most points
will be the winners of these
achievement awards.
Fred J. Benson, dean of engi
neering, said that in years past,
there have been from two to sev
en winners each year.
Three Jet Fighters
Crash into Atlantic
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. UP>—
Three jet fighters, part of a night
training flight, suddenly whipped
out of formation early Wednesday
and hurtled seaward, crashing one
after another into the Atlantic
Ocean. All three pilots were
killed.
Officers at Myrtle Beach Air
Force Base had no ready explana
tion for the crash. The F100 Su
per Sabre jets were on a night
navigation and refueling mission,
and others in the flight saw no
collision.
