I, G. B. Hensarling Jr., am a candidate for trustee in the A&M Consolidated School for the expired term of Mr. Ernest Redman of the Wellborn com munity. Attended and grad uated in 1936 from this school. Retired from the Navy in 1957 after completing 20 years serv ice. I have six children—five in school—therefore feel a deep interest in the best for our school. If you elect me, I shall strive earnestly to promote the wel fare of our school. Mit Williams and I are run ning for the two places al lotted by the Gentlemen’s agreement as set up by the School Board in 1928—and con tinued until the present time. Paid Political Advertisement NOTE TO THE VOTERS ON A&M CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL HOARD ELECTION JTime brings many changes, but it should not dull the validity of a gentlemen’s agreement made in good faith and after due recognition of all facts at hand. Since the consolidation of the Wellborn, Union Hill, & Shiloh school districts with College Station district in 1928—and until the recent mushrooming growth of College Station, the rural districts have supported A&M Consolidated School—literally supported, since they rep resented more than 80% of the tax income. Yet they did not demand the lion’s share of representation! They agreed on two representatives on a board of seven men. Now that the off- campus population of College Station has so increased, the rural people are in great danger of losing this representation. Why? Because we, the voters, are not aware of the gentleman’s agreement—that is, representation by area. The ballot shows no area distinction.
