Ecumenical Meet
Draws 11 Schools
One hundred students from 11
colleges heard the Rev. Jack Lewis
of Austin and the Rev. Paul G.
Wassenich of Texas Christian
University speak on Facing Reality
at the seventh annual Ecumenical
Conference in the Wesley Founda
tion last weekend.
Lewis is the founder of the
Christian Faith and Life Commun
ity in Austin. He served as plat
form speaker and presented the
problems taken up by the students
in seven discussion groups.
The discussion groups were
planned so that members of the
different schools would be grouped
together to gain the benefit of
varied points of view.
Wassenich, bible professor at
TCU, used scriptures to illustrate
the possible solutions to the prob
lem of today’s world.
The theme of the conference was
based ai-ound the idea of facing
reality in society, in the group and
in yourself.
The schools represented were
Rice Institute, University of Hous
ton, TCU, University of Texas,
Southwestern State Teacher’s Col
lege, Prairie View A&M, Southern
Methodist University, Lamar Tech,
Texas A&T, Texas Southernmost
College and A&M.
