A&M Wins Second In Debate Tourney Aggie debaters took second place honors among affirmative teams at the annual University of Texas Round-Up Forensic Tournament in Austin last weekend. Jay Hirsch and Andrew Scouva- loff posted a 5-2 record in the tommament, although officials in formed the pair that they were checking a doubtful ballot which may reveal their record to have been 6-1, Dr. H. E. Hierth, dh'ector of debate at A&M said. In the individual coritests, Scou- valoff won a medal for placing first in extemporaneous speaking. On Feb. 20-21, Hirsch and Schepps placed fifth in the 26- school forensic tournament at Tex as Christian University, posting a 4-2 record. The Easter Seal campaign is be ing conducted simultaneously by 1,700 state and local affiliates of the National Society for Crippled Children and Adults located in the 49 state, District of Columbia, Ha waii and Puerto Rico. Approximately 77 per cent of the funds remains in the country where raised to finance rehabilitation services for the area’s crippled. Gordon Gay, Coordinator of Religious Life at A&M, has had the 1958-59 yearbook of the Feder ation of Texas A&M Mother’s Clubs dedicated to him for his service to college students. Gay completed 30 years of serv ice to A&M students last year. Moving here in 1928 to become as sociate secretary of the YMCA, he became general secretary in 1952. Since coming to A&M, Gay has led in the development of numer ous programs, among them the chapel program and the YMCA freshman camp.
