sewers in Woodson Village accord
ing to plans and specifications as
recommended by the city engineer
and reimburse the company for the
entire cost of improvements with
the exception of $400 to be paid

viding for the construction and
maintenance of FM 60 from High
way 6 to the east city limits. The
mayor and city secretary were au
thorized to sign the Municipal
Construction and Maintenance
Agreement for the City of College
Station. (The agreement states
that the city will supply right-of-
way and the state will build and
maintain the road.)
3. Authorized the city attorney
to write an ordinance governing
food sanitation. This action was
in response to a statement from

Offers Trip Abroad
A tour to Israel and Western
Europe is being offered to stu
dents for the second time by Ed
ucational Travel, Inc., of the
United States National Student
Assn.
Travel has become one of the
most important and desirable ex-
tra-cirrcular activities in the
United States today for college
students. Over 80,000 students this
year will be going to countries
throughout the world according to
the USNSA.
The program takes the students
to Israel via the Zim Lines ships:
the SS Zion and the SS Israel. On
board ship there will be an orien
tation program concerning life in
Israel.
The group in Israel will visit
Haifa, Upper Galilee, Tel Aviv
and Jerusalem. During the two
weeks stay in Israel the group
will spend five days living with
a family on a kibbutz, a coopera
tive work camp. They will be ex
pected to work with the people. In
this manner they will be able to
get to know Israelis first hand.
Both Christian and Jewish sights
will be visited in the Holy Land.
The students will also have an op
portunity to speak with various
leaders in the government con
cerning the many problems that
this young nation faces.
The tour continues after Israel
to Greece, Italy, Switzerland,
France, and England. There is a
free week at the end of the tour
for individual exploration.

‘Glaucoma ? — What Is Its Meaning?
TEMPLE CP)—Glaucoma is a big
word that scares many persons,
but is does not mean future blind
ness and most of its victims can
fetain their sight as long as they
live.
That’s the message of the first
U. S. book on glaucoma written
for the lay public. Author of “So
You Have Glaucoma” is Dr. Ev
erett Veirs, chief of the section of
ophthalomology at Scott and White
Memorial Hospital here. Publishers
are Grune and Stratton of New
York.
Dr. Veirs stresses in simple
words that glaucoma—a complex
disease of the eye always char
acterized by increased pressure
within the eyeball—can be and is
successfully treated if patients
follow the advice of their physici
ans and ophthalomologists, though
few complete “cures” are ever
claimed. But near-normal vision
can usually be maintained, he
spates.
The book offers a basic list of
“Do’s” and “Don’ts” for glaucoma
sufferers.
